Goddamn this is awesome
Love this performance so much already, definitely in my top 3 for this year.
No other way to explain is other than it being straight fire folk.

Josh and nakhra levels were super high and consistent across the team. No dips or set points for nahkra, felt organic. Energy and form was amazing, you guys really know how much to utilise at which point, whilst maintaining great form. Every jodi and dancer had a stage presence and confidence about them, which was reflected in each move.

Bugchu inclusion was legit. Especially how the choreo emphasised its introduction. Instruments were all in-sync, you guys had really talented people on the algojeh, dhol, chimta, etc

Red jodi was fire as well; Katar and Harpal killing it as always. There wasn't much, if little gap between the jodis in skill level. Really, really consistent. Was a pleasure to meet you guys @ WBBC, hope to meet you again soon. Awesome to see Live Bhangra alive and just as strong as mix performances. Only thing I wished more from this video was better audio quality, but other than that, soooooooo good. Legit bhangra in its best form: pure, simple, yet hard hitting and mad energetic.

Keep it up lads!

Thanks for the feedback so far guys. Always appreciated!

Also, for those who are unaware, Gora Longowalia was our ustaad for this competition - an ustaad we brought over here from India - to learn live bhangra from. He made and insisted on teaching us this set, as he did originally with a team he worked with in India (he is its rightful owner) so major props to him aswell.

seems like the uk have taken a u-turn back to when teams copied NA sets because they wanted quick access to a trophy and couldn't be f***** to learn themselves and put in the hard work. learn yourself and create a set and use your own team to dance. be proud of the work you put into a set. sidhi gal yo. no rating for appd personally. anyone can do that.

props to APPD for taking the time/effort to learn from an ustaad and put on a solid performance -

if an ustaad is comfortable with a set and is focusing merely on form/execution, why not teach live bhangra in the confines of that set without worrying about set creation so the team can excel at that? im sure after this experience, APPD will be able to come up with their own sets and be creative (which they are obviously capable of doing based on their previous performances). saying a team can't use a set their coach has made previously is like saying nachdi jawani and sgpd's junior teams shouldn't use segments from their senior teams sets (unless people are against that too)

i think if you have an opportunity to learn from the best, you'd be foolish not to

sue sylvester told me about a US team a while ago (i think it was J.A.T.T.) who ripped audio from a live set video and then danced the same exact live set at a comp. there is also the example of an indian live team completely ripping off NJ's motor city set. what kind of precedence is there for judging situations like these? from a judging point of view you can't disqualify a team for doing something like this, you could dock creativity points but that's dependent on a judge being aware of the fact that either the whole set or part of the set was not created by the team dancing it. as i mentioned in the "form evolution" thread a live set showcases a team's heritage and identity, so even if you learn from the same ustaad, it's still a different team and should present that teams identity. if you can build your own team, make music sets, dance at competitions, you should be competent enough to learn and dance live without having to bring in an ustaad. all the inspiration teams need is on youtube, learn as much about live sets, including the music and boliyan, and develop your own live sets. it's that sort of independent development which will help the form grown and evolve, which is what everyone really wants.

bhangrafan6996 bashing someone for complimenting a set makes you a complete phud. like i've said before, anonymous shit talking is for phudus, if you can create a btf account just to bash shit have the balls to show who you really are.

2 Problems.

1 - the set is from GGS Sanghera, not APPD. Junior members 4rm same team can use set, not a differnt team.

2 - The set been used more than 1ce

Coach is Gurpreet Singh, hence set belong to coach, not dholi

True bhangra is live on dhol. Just becoz you can chreo to music, don't mean you can do live.

no way, i thought true bhangra was live on chimta while singing tunak tunak tun
i'd bet the top choreographers/dancers in the US music circuit could put together a badass live set.

If choreos were so good, why steal a set from the punjab team and say it belongs to their dhol player. This is about APPD cheating, not what set US dancers can make.

Congrats to APPD.
Well deserved boys!

You took time and effort to learn a set and executed it pretty darn well. Im sure the judges judged off of what they saw that night. If your coach (ustad) taught it then so be it.

Congrats on the 1st, and it's amazing that you all had an Ustad from India to learn live bhangra!
