Why would you leave LA (I assume thats where you're at), you got everything there. The Lakers, beaches, hot white girls in the OC, 90210. hahaha

Move to new york, it will change your life. all these other cities can't touch ny, period. :)

you don't have to live in manhattan. i live in a luxury high rise apartment in long island city queens, and i share rent at 700 a month. Door man, 24 hour gym, the works. Amazing view of the city. NY is affordable if you know how to budget.
Agreed. If you do your research well (and it seems like you're doing very well by asking a bunch of us who live here), you can get a great place. I know some people who got a sweet deal in the renovated apartments in Stuy Town on the lower east side. I can't say too much about apartment hunting, so I'll stay out of that.

But really though, NYC is more than a city, it's an experience. More importantly, your experience in the city depends on how you approach it. Yes, Manhattan is very hustle/bustle, but it can easily be avoided! The best part, in my opinion, is that NYC is extraordinarily convenient. Great public transportation (although it can be a pain in the ass during rush-hour), great food everywhere (and cheap, if you know where to look), and an array of personalities which makes NYC so unique.

just my two cents...

Haha damn, thanks everyone for your opinions! I'm planning on switching jobs, so I wanted to look in another city. I've lived in LA all my life, and although there are a lot of positives here, I feel like I'm missing out on the big-city vibe that SF/NYC/Boston give you. Waldo how do you like DC, besides the girls haha?

And suraj i like how you call me out on Sher googlegroups and then btf, haha no reason

Imran are you looking for a city that's comparable to LA? In terms of size and all of that fun stuff, the NYC is your best bet. It's a great city, a lot of stuff to do there, and its huge. You will always find something new to do or to see out there.

Boston is another great city but it's small and its expensive. Nonetheless, I love it out there because the crowd is mad young because of sheer number of universities around there. There's a lot of history dispersed throughout the city.

Personally, I'm from Chicago and you can't top it here. The cost of living isn't bad at all whereas in NYC its gonna be hella expensive. Can't really beat midwest hospitality and there's a ton of stuff to do here - I think it's the perfect size for a city. Not hugely expansive but not super crowded. Also, you are a short flight away from a lot of other major cities too.
