so as most of you probably already know, the iPad came out yesterday.

Did anyone get one?

I'm looking into it but I don't think im ever going to use it aside from the times where its gonna be like "oh I have it so I'll use it but i wouldve been fine with my laptop if i didnt have it"

I already have a macbook pro and an iphone so i dont see the point. but alas, maybe someone knows something i dont.. what do you guys think about it?

i was in line with a friend because he needed to get one yesterday. since i got to play around with it, i think i've realized there are definitely awesome "Feel good" moments where youre just like "damn, this classy, new age, i feel slickkk" but then again, thats the sort of image apple sells.

essentially, the biggest drawback i find is the lack of multitasking, like you cant have 2 apps going at the same time - which
seems customary on an iphone, but when you have a seeming "netbook killer" (hell, maybe even laptop killer from the way some ppl are loving it), it just seems NECESSARY to be able to do something like listen to pandora while writing notes and what not.

the other thing i didnt like was more of a personal preference of being a little awkward using a "slate" to type, like i found it weird to type on when it was placed on a table, i found myself sort of leaning forward, maybe thats just because im so used to the "flap" type function laptops afford.

i might get it someday, perhaps another generation where they utilize its power for multitasking...but i doubt it though, since i dont need it and i dont really commute anywhere (i Can def see why it'd be a mad cool thing to have while on a long train or car ride)

It's not some next-level shit and it probably won't change the technological world like the iPod or iPhone did, but believe me, it's an awesome piece of technology. It's very quick, the feel is very smooth and I just got a chance to show my grandmom the AEG GTV video on it because HD videos look absolutely gorgeous on it.

I do agree with J Hayer that multitasking features would have been amazing, but it's a very fun gadget to play with and I can definitely find it useful. I hate to be the guy on this forum whose always like "Fuck the iPhone, I love the Palm Pre", but some of the Palm Pre features like "multitasking", "swipe back to go back"/"swipe forward to go forward" and "card swipe" would have made this way too orgasmic. Nonetheless, my overall impression is that while it's the step before the next level shit, it's a sexy piece of technology and if you get the opportunity, wait a few months for the price to drop and then get one.
