How come no one talks about interracial marriages from the perspective of the Punjabi/Indian person "integrating" themselves into the white person's family? Someone said before that a different between indian people and white people is that indian people marry into the entire family. Do you really think white people don't become part of the other persons family as well?
If I, for one, were entering into an inter-cultural/racial/linguistic/whatever marriage, I'd want to know that married life would be a combination of both lifestyles/families/cultures. White people aren;t just some blank slate that you can project a new culture onto once you get married. I think its disrespectful to conceptualize an inter-racial marriage as just the white person needing to adjust/integrate into the non-white person's family.
Just because someone is a plain old white american doesn't mean they don't have a culture of their own, and it doesn't mean that they wouldn't want to bring their spouse into part of that culture as well.
