Tamasha is a fusion competition. Atlanta is my home
city- please do this. I'd figure out some way to get back and dance under some umbrella.

This year they decided to keep it a fusion competition, but a year ago it was a 4 category competition with classical, fusion, garba/raas, and bhangra.

Fusion competitions in Atlanta that combine categories (Mercer-Rangoli, and ATL Tamasha, etc) have historically had judging issues. Last year at Tamasha, there was a rumor about one of the judges being associated with some of the competing teams, and a competition organizer actually competed with a placing team. Also, there have been several complaints about controversial placings, where Georgia teams tended to always place over out-of-state teams.

I heard that this year ATL Tamasha kept the teams to all in-state, placings were on point, and that there were no judging issues - which is awesome, I hope that trend continues.

I have to clarify that I don't know if those rumours are 100% true, but I do know that it has become incredibly controversial, and that several out-of-state teams were so disgusted by their treatment at those comps that they currently refuse to apply to any GA competitions.

If you do throw a Bhangra competition in Atlanta, I would advise you to ensure that your judging rubrics are transparent, and that you have qualified, unbiased judges that are willing to openly communicate with teams, as that has been the strongest complaint about ATL comps in the past.

Good luck!!

To all teams interested in applying for this competition,
please send me the contact emails (Bhangra Captain)
and also provide information as to what an ideal date
would be for this competition. Thanks

(a) Interested in attending? No.
(b) Interested in applying? No.
(c) Which team would apply? My best guess would be Wash U Bhangra, UB Bhangra, Bull Bhangra, Hopkins Hareepa, UW School of Bhangra and PDAP. Just a guess.

LOL :p
