To All:

We are glad to hear SOBTV will be at the event, but please keep a couple things in mind:

1) NOBODY is allowed to go backstage except for the teams performing. We are not allowing any backstage interviewing as space is very limited, and maintaining proper organization could be jeapordized with too much "craziness" backstage.

2) NOBODY is allowed to record the show as those rights have been sold to Sahara One. Anyone trying to record the show will have their camera's taken away. We will have DVD"s available within hopefully a month or two, and the show will also be shown internationally through Sahara One.

Please do abide by our requests above. We spend countless hours trying to organize, manage and keep the show as affordable as possible. For this reason, we would ask everyone to please respect our two limitations above.

Thank you,
Boston Bhangra, Inc

Boston Bhangra, I believe you should abide by the rules set by SOBtv, not the other way around... They have a lot more pull than you guys... haaha... and what the f*ck is Sahara One? Is that a tv channel? No one in North America gets that damn channel, whats the point... I'm bringing my camera if I do come, and every video will be online for BTF to see... Screw DVD sales, you guys take forever to get those things created and when they do come out, they're shitty anyways.. I'm not paying 20 bucks for something that should cost like 5... Dont give me that whole cost of production BS, everyone knows how those CD's are made...

yo check yourself before you speak.....If you have never heard of Sahara one then thats sad...I pretty sure everyone else has heard of them its an Indian channel that is broadcaster all over..like Zee TV....Last year was a disaster with the DVDz because Filmy failed to get back to use in time..took them 6 months...that is why we switched to Sahara One...DVD should be released by Dec....and when they do come out...they are much better quality and professionally printed compared to other competition DVDs that are sold, both in printing and design....why don't you do some research before you come here and talk sh!t....and as far as your "cost production BS"

we give about 5 teams DVDs so do the math 5teams*15people...75 DVD we have to make that cost break even...hence the price raise....if you don't know what it takes to run a competition avoid talking shit..

Sulmoney I got you message i will see if we can work something out for you bro...i like the Idea of SobTV, just worried about it messing up out flow of teams coming on and off there is really no backstage...but let me see if we can work something

I'm not sure who the DVD producer was in BBC 2005, but it was delayed and zero post-processing work. BBC streamed the competition to the competitors' room where we saw the different camera angles, etc. If you compare a recording of that projection with the final DVD, the footage, cuts, etc were all the same. But it took a couple months to release the DVDs, which were of course not priced cheap. Who was the producer that year?

hi
i just got out of day 2 (of 2) of my block exams so ill give a bit of coherent answer before i pass out from sleep deprivation and smoke away the educational memories of the past month of my life...

1) its sobTV, not any other variations
2) we do not (repeat do not) want to interfere with the show itself in anyway at all. we are not planning on filming performances (the bbc dvds i have bought in the past are some of the best comp coverage you will get). we only want to get some behind the scenes chats with performers and other bhangra "celebs". if that is at the hotel, mixer, afterparty, dressing rooms, whatever, its golden. meryum is competing as well, and i dont want to detract from her commitment to her team (ugh, that sounds so unnatural...i miss you).
3) repeating again, no intention of disrupting the show or performers at all. some people take bhangra more seriously than others and will want to have no part of this, and thats fine, you arent our main audience. bhangra should be something we do for fun, and our interviews are meant to appeal to people who take joy from participating in this great cultural art form of ours.

i hope this clears up some misconceptions and what sobTV is all about. abhi, i got your pm, ill try to respond to that with more details and whatnot, but right now, my bed is beckoning...:)

Abhi please pull your wet panties out of your butt crack... I know tons of people with indian cable packages, and um, Sahara One is definately not something to brag about... I was actually being saracastic when I said that, but the underlying meaning I implied was the same, Sahara One is not like some big channel that everyone thrives to have...

DVD "should" be released by December, thats good, thats what every competition says, how are you guys any different... so please shut the f*ck up again and dont respond like a immature little child until your competition proves otherwise...

I'm sure the camera crew is expensive, there are MILLIONS of ways to create DVD's and work out contracts with them... I dont know what the exact cost of production of one DVD is, but I can almost gaurentee its way f*ckin higher than it needs to be... Will I sit here and explain how you should get it done? Nope, you tend to act like your a mart guy, figure it out...

Vick,

I try to ignore people like you who come on here and talk shit but i felt the urge to speak up against ur comment. If you think about it, its pretty simple. They are running a show not a charity event. Even if you believe the DVD costs are higher then expected, it should be understood. its done in order to off set other costs. Making strong statements which you usually do and not really do anything about them doesn't lead you or this thread anywhere. Perhaps if you try and respect others, people might want to indulge themselves into a legit conversation with you.

Have a good one man. See you in Boston.

Vick why do you always need to escalate the trashtalk and attack the person, why don't you just argue what you want to say??? You started with what you thought of DVDs that cost $$ and take too long, whatever that's fine; it has some attitude to it but who cares, it's your right.

Abhi said:

Abhi responded, and other than saying "check yourself" and calling BS on one point, he didn't curse you off or anything. in fact he specifically told you why the DVDs cost how much they do and specifically why they went to Sahara One. What more do you want from the guy?

So you start talking about pulling his wet panties out of his ass and telling him to shut the f*ck up and crap. "i dont know how much the production cost of a DVD is, but i guarantee its way f*ckin higher than it needs to be"? Boston Bhangra had different quality vs cost options for price-points and they went with the vendor that protects their good reputation, they didn't get someone's cousin with a miniDV to record from the back for $50. What's the issue? You think it's too expensive, fine, but proclaiming you know how much the DVD should cost for the quality they get based on zero industry knowledge?

Just argue the topic at hand. No need starting shit with every BTF member. It may not seem like a great distinction, but the moment we start throwing shit back and forth-- soon BTF will be covered in crap, literally.

I am not going to sit here and argue that Sahara One is one of the bigger TV stations here in the USA, but from what i have been told its is big in other countries...People from other countries have called saying they have seen the show....so be it..

as far as the DVD argument...again take time and do some research before making false statements...three years ago we did release the DVDs on December...past two years things haven't fallen apart not because of us but because of the third party delay....I am glad every competition says they try to release the DVDs soon but we did it before and are aiming to do it again.....

and your right lets not get into the DVD cost....

Vick, for your information, Sahara One carries the hit serial, Ghar, Ek Sapnaa...oh you diddn't know that did you? Well let me explain.

The story revolves around the protagonist Kakul who is the younger daughter of a Bihari politician Om Shankar. She attends her friend's wedding in Mumbai where she meets a Mumbaiite Sammaan, the son of an affluent businessman Amarnath Chowdhary. Sammaan flirts incorrigibly with Kakul at the wedding. Kakul, a simple girl at heart, is attracted to Sammaan and falls for his charms not realizing that Sammaan is merely indulging in idle flirtation to pass the time pleasantly in the company of a good-looking young girl. The incident angers Kakul's brother-in-law and her father's primary adherent and political supporter Surjeet, who is known for his extremely short temper. Surjeet gets Sammaan married to Kakul at gunpoint. And from thereon, Kakul's life goes for a toss, for Sammaan is head over heels in love with his steady girlfriend Vanshika Saxena, while Sammaan's mother Uttara who disapproves of the marriage and Kakul, makes life miserable for her. How Kakul manages to overcome a long series of obstacles, win over Sammaan and his family and make her dream of a loving home a reality, forms the crux of the story.

now whose panties are wet?

Saleem,

I didnt attack, if anything I stated was false in my original statement, feel free to point it out... Abhi took it as a personal attack and felt the need to lash out... I know he has to protect his people even if he knows that most of what I stated was true... I dont believe the fact that DVD sales, specially these days with videos leaking everywhere, play a HUGE role in off setting other costs...

Abhi,

Sahara is big in other countries, thats great, kinda like how Obama gave his one of his most memorable speeches in front of a crowd that cant even vote for him(Berlin or something), what good does it for for most people who actually want to watch the show?

I see what you are trying to say but i don't think your analogy can be fully applied in this argument. UK and Australia are two countries amongst many that have Punjabis/other Desis that understand Bhangra or know what it is...People who subscribe to Shara One are going to be Desis who understand what bhangra is and as well as what they are watching....so i don't think its a waste at all......i ma not going to drag other teams into this but teams from Cali have called saying there Family in UK show the show and show them on stage and they loved it.....we have gotten e-mails from people in the UK asking when the competition is going to be airing again...so not a complete waist at all...not to mention teams from UK have applied to our competition because they have seen it(i hope the E-board doesn't kill me for releasing this :p)

again the bottom argument with the DVD is that we try to do our best with not only making the DVDs look good but the appearance good as well....i am not sure how many competitions do this but after Filmy or Sahara One sends us the show put together we actually sit there and go through it and change what we don't like....last year the main page of the DVD was crap and look liked a home made DVD...we sent it back to be redone....so the DVD process does take time(hence the two month delay)....again not going to go into full detail on the DVD process but if anyone wants to really know PM me

again BBC was created by the founders who have 5+ years of competition experience and they saw the flaws in the competitions they went to and with those flaws in mind they created The Boston Bhangra Competitions...and one of the flaws were crappy DVD that cost 20 billz....so we stride to not give crappy DVDz for 20 bills...lol my bad if i sound like i am lecturing

I hope that help clear up things...lol...so back to the SobTV discussion, what do people wanna see on SobTV if it all works out? :p
