If India really wanted Sikhs to progress, why would the government not make any single arrest for the riots of 1984? Why would the Prime Minister at that time, Rajiv Gandhi order all Sikhs to be cleansed in India? If India wanted Sikhs to progress, why would the government bring in tanks into the 'Golden Temple?' From June 1984 to November 1984, thousands of Sikh men vanished, Sikh women were disrespected, and young Sikh children were left as orphans under the hands of Indian armed forces, police, and rioters. By simply placing a so-called Sikh Prime Minister does not mean progression for the Sikh community as a whole in India. Punjab used to be the richest state in India, but I'm not sure if that statement can be accurately said now. Most importantly, if the Indian Government has the power to BAN western media and such aid groups as Amnesty International, banning a film or an album is minuscule.
So in essence, I do not see a 'pretty damn big progression' for Sikhs and for other minorities in India such as the Tamils, Christians, and Muslims who have been defamed when it comes to so-called 'religious' rights in India. If these religious/censorship laws were created to protect freedom of religion, then they should be implemented, otherwise they are just a mere mockery because the defamation of religious minorities occurs periodically in India - the most recent I could recall would be the anti-Muslim riots in 2002. So if one could kill in India, because he or she does not agree with Hinduism, Islam, or Sikhism, then these laws uphold no value whatsoever, since they clearly do not display the principles of a ''Democracy.'' Sorry to go off topic, but I thought I'd just share my two cents when it comes to India and its 'Democratic Laws.'
