my only issue is that he didn't revolutionize baseball (except maybe bring the steroid debunking along a little bit sooner). Jordan helped fuel a new generation of players...shifted the paradigm from centers-first, and motivated new/improved defenses. Bonds' issue is that hitting is individual for the most part. Sure he got walked...but that doesn't impact the game as a whole, it doesn't leave a lasting legacy in how the game is managed (i'm not saying he had none)
took the words right out of my mouth Swi. Bonds didn't single handedly lead his team to win the world series like Jordan and Gretzky did. Kids don't grow up wanting to be like barry bonds and he didn't have players trying to be like him either. Yeah, he hit home runs, set the career and single season home run record. But those are individual feats. Saying that Bonds got walked intentionally doesn't say crap.
But if you want to argue about individual feats, then take a look at the MJ and gretzky's.
Gretzky holds the record for most career goals as well as the most in one season. He broke some records by a ridiculous margin. You think Ovechkin will EVER score 92 goals in a season? Jordan has 10 scoring titles. Most NBA finals MVP awards.
These athletes not only broke records that nobody will probably ever beat, but they led their teams to championships. Hell, KOBE has a higher status than Bonds in my book. Bonds didn't make his teammates better. You never hear in baseball that a player will be the NEXT BONDS.....but you always hear "Lebrons or Kobe is the next JORDAN" or "Crosby is the next Great One". Come one now.
