Hey, so this is gonna be quick and dirty. I just hate that noone posts reviews anymore. I dont remember every team and didnt see every one but here goes:
MBT - Pretty good performance, relatively early in the show. The mix hit hard, which was good especially in the first half when the sound just seemed to be lacking a bit of bass. I was not a fan of the vaardi, though if i'm not mistaken its school colors. They just didn't look good on stage. To the girl who... for lack of a better word, face planted. I feel you pain, and was completely impressed by you when you stood back up instantly and finished hte set without missing a beat. I hope you heard all the teams cheer in support because you held it down. Overall, the set was good, I don't remember a whole lot standing out. Clean for hte most part, except for the major fall. You guys managed the small stage well, and formations were simple enough to allow cleanliness. Good performance and congrats on placing.
NW - Personal Bias... but Neha G is a sickass dancer. I'm really sad that alot of your dancers are graduating becuase there is alot of potential in this team. Lots of little slips and trips, but formations were challenging and constantly moving, which I can appreciate in such challenging dimensions. Definitely a performance to be proud of though guys.
MSU - cleanest performance of the night, but also the simplest, especially in terms of formations. The glow in the dark shikke was good again this year. I felt the formations were TOO simple, and though it lead to a very clean performance it made it look less challenging. Wobble Wobble gimmick was good, wish you guys took it a bit further/edged it out a bit to make it hit harder. The ending gimmick hit very hard, and definitely stood out in my mind. Good performance.
KPGD - Sickest intro. The stunts into a shikke was something we were actually considering, which made me like it even more. The one girl dancer held it DOWN. Kanwar, you def almost killed someone when you lost your khunde. lol. Overall, i liked the set. THe mix, however, does need work. It was probably the weakest of the night, not so much in song selection but in actual production. The levels were off and honestly lead to parts hitting less than they would have otherwise. Walk the dog still hits. I prefer you guys 12 but 10 definitely made the stage easier to manage.
CMU - Good performance, just like all the other ones we've seen this season. Some slight bumping on stage but you guys managed to handle it very well. Id say this was the most balanced set of the night, because even when formations were simple, they dancers executed well and danced wide. Red jorhi killed it. Congrats on second.
FAUJ - dope. Dropped alot of the bells and whistles from the mix, which i LIKED. It let the moves carry the gimmicks rather than the music. i dont know how you guys managed the stage size because your formations were challenging and dancing was solid. This was clearly the best performance of the night once you guys hit the stage. Cheered hard for you boys, it was a pleasure meeting you all. Super humble bunch of kids, just excited to dance. Its refreshing to see out of such a successful team. Abhi, Cherag, keep doing your thing. It works. Oh and the new ending, like i told you in person, completely changed the set. Great change.
Drexel - Saw you guys from side stage, I remember the performance being super clean and overall entertaining. I'm not going to go into anything else because at this point i was trying to zone for our performance. Perhaps some other people can give better comments, but from what I heard you guys were contenders to place. Congrats on a great performance guys
Guardians - probably cant give an unbiased review so i'll just say i had alot of fun performing this set. It was undoubtedly our best yet, despite having been significantly simplified for the stage size. Proud of the boys for the work they put in, and for going strong to the last jump. We hope you all enjoyed our performance, and we would like to thank bayside for giving us the opportunity to showcase ourselves before our home crowd once again. To our friends and family in attendance... cheering was an understatement. We felt like we had an extra 50 dancers on stage behind us, pushing us to dance harder. Couldn't ask for any more from you all, and love you all.
Shout out to Vince, Hasneet, Awneet, Kuleen, and the rest of the bayside staff. Special shoutout to Parth and Ashna, for thaking SUCH amazing care of us. constant attention to what we needed, from pins to bananas to lighting cues to everything. you guys were stellar.
Amazing weekend, Amazing competition. I understand and know all the challenges and circumstances involved, but please never have a stage that small again
.
Thats all folks.
