Hi guys, So I was messaged today by one my followers who very kindly showed me another bhangra mixer on soundcloud who has been downloading various mixes made by me (DJSukh), Criminal Mind, Prem Lota etc. and has been uploading them as his own which I find to be very pathetic.

His name is 'Deejay' GsD- His soundcloud:
https://soundcloud.com/gurkarn-dhuggaa-dhuggavibez

For Example:

My MIX: https://soundcloud.com/dj-sukhldn/summer-megamix-promo
WHICH WAS UPLOADED 27 DAYS AGO

HIS UPLOAD:

https://soundcloud.com/gurkarn-dhuggaa-dhuggavibez/quik-megamix-deejay-gsd
WHICH WAS UPLOADED 21 DAYS AGO

EXAMPLE 2)

WHAT HE UPLOADED: https://soundcloud.com/gurkarn-dhuggaa-dhuggavibez/deejay-gsd-presents-the-halloween-bhangra-mix-2k15

(Now this includes me and another UK mixer Prem Lota)

MY MIX: https://soundcloud.com/dj-sukhldn/dj-sukh-winter-mix-quickfire-mix
(Soundcloud doesn't specify the actual date a month after the upload, but you can see what he has done)

Just wanted to warn mixers for future references to tag there mixes with a symbol of your name such as DJ HSD, Jassi on the production (I know I will) It would be really appreciated if everyone reported this account as it is not fair on mixers life myself who try and put out work for people to recognise.

Nothing new.
Teams do it.
Djs do it.

Only way to stop is not to make your material public.

Why should mixers stop creating content they spend time on and of which they are proud about because of one or two individuals who do things like this?
Even when mixes aren't released they are still ripped of YouTube videos so either way can't really "stop making material public." :-\

That's just unacceptable

I'd defo recommend getting yourself a DJ tag. If you're gonna make a megamix or mix of some sort, put it throughout - and make it memorable. Sad to see people stealing your mixes - but hope it works out for you in the end.

No one is saying to not make material, just keep it within your circle if you're really offended by people stealing your material. When you do any kind of work that you're going to post to the world you should EXPECT people to steal it one way or another. Its how the world works.
When people make "remixes" or "reworks" of material (unless you have explicit rights from owners) you cant take much action since you have done same thing. (take someones work, "spiced" it up and posted it publicly).
Nothing much you can do other than stop posting on public sites and keep it within your own circle (which is actually happening quite a lot.).

Some minor steps you can do is: make a tag for yourself. Process your own samples (aka make your own unique sound that people will know instantly that it was you) and DONT share those. I've learned not to share my samples and chains with anyone. By this I mean REALLY go into making your own hats, kicks, dhols, tumbis, etc etc.

It's how the world is man. Think about how Charanjit Ahuja feels and the dholki player of that time feels who played dholki in "Gidhian Di Rani." That dholki is used by everyone today. Isn't that stealing?

people steal mixes and take credit, not justified. but at the same time, your mix is still being liked and heard. All publicity is good publicity. You'll be aight b

@Aka$h

Bro in all fairness, it is quite annoying when the person who's stealing your mixes is getting more publicity than your original mix. Some mixers may be bothered than others, but it's a matter of working hard to make a final product whether it's you using an English instrumental or a speedrecords song... All this guy is doing is fading into transitions lol.

My mix uploaded 18hours ago https://soundcloud.com/kironrmizanur/summer-mix-2016-preview
Already in GsD new mix: https://soundcloud.com/gurkarn-dhuggaa-dhuggavibez/damn-son-bhangra-mashup-gsd-jsm

Geeza couldn't even wait a day before stealing work ;D ;D ;D ;D

If you cant spin vinyl, youre not a DJ.
If you cannot produce your own music, you are not a producer.
If you are making tracks just for some recognition/credit and followers, you are fooling yourself and won't make anything creative. Im suprised that the amount of ideas and content available to everyone on here, noone even thought to create something of their own. Its all the same shit everyday, speeding up songs, fcking withh the semitone, just adding additional production to original tracks(snares, kicks, hats, laser beams,etc..), which in all fairness does sound amazing for hyping up Bhangra tracks.. However, is not creativity Imo. I could probably find several people on soundcloud claiming they are producers, djs, or watever and do not even know what the A#(sharp) minor scale is.
creativity happens once youve understood music to the core and make your own shit, a reflection of yourself in your music. Simple as that.
So its unneccessary to angry when people "steal" your tracks, and upload them on their page, regardless of how much work youve put in, because at the end of the day, all you really did is the same thing as them.
Ps. You should be glad that person has stolen it, becuase atleast its worth something to steal.

I think most mixers like myself don't take/ask for credit the track they have used but more of how they have mixed the song, I don't believe that I am a producer but the bhangra circuit has created a platform for 'Bhangra mixers' so I regard myself as one of them. In terms of effort, when someone steals a 'mix' from a 'bhangra mixer' and portrays it as there own you can understand why it can become annoying, as they are literally lying and overshadowing what mixers actually spend time to create.

ps. I actually produced a little snippet, uploaded it but it was removed by soundcloud lol
