Hello! Can anyone let me know of ANY Bhangra Competitions in MAY??

Texas Showdown Bhangra Competition is thinking about changing the date from November to May 2010. Texas Showdown will most probably still be held in November in 2009. Thanks!

Rupinder

(any recommendations of ANY month will help!)

Soooo so far we've had threads for comps in Feb, March, April, and now...May.

Is the calendar that bad? I took a look at it and it seems to have most of the stuff. It's definitely missing things like BOB (though Blowout is there). And May is empty, which is probs why this thread exists.

So if you get a chance please look at it and make sure all the comps you know of are listed.

To answer the thread, Bruin was last weekend in May 2008, dunno what the deal is for 2009 though.

yea the calendar will have stuff posted, as long as its announced already i'd assume.

but to answer your question hk,

Aaja Nachle (Bhangra exhitibtion)...was held in May last year in Tacoma, WA.

BRUIN BHANGRA is always memorial day weekend, on sunday too, cuz of the long weekend.

also sidenote, if you look to hold a comp in june/july/august, u might only draw independent teams, as college teams we all know would have a proper hard time gettin a routine together slash practicin while on break.

thers too many comps goin on these days. all comes should jsut spread out and not overlap AT ALL..imagine we used all 52 weeks? thatd be ridicccc, but it would keep BTF busy as hell with videos, and also more importantly would give the younger inexperienced teams a shot at competing. try not to overlap a comp date, n try for a time when no other comps are around.

I think the only major competition that happens in May is Bruin Bhangra.

I would recommend you do a competition either in Mid Febuary or first week of May. Just make sure it doesn't interfere with midterms or the finals.

Thank you so much! We will keep this in mind and let you guys as well as BTF know when we plan on doing this, keep in mind 2009 will be in November most probably. :)

Actually early May might be really cool. Say for college teams, exams end April 19th. Then there's a competition first week of May that might be cool, if kids could stay at school an extra week or two and practice/clean-up. Just thoughtsss

Personally I kinda wish there'd be more summer comps! Yeah they would only bring independent teams but crowd turnout would be good I think, like I know people went to watch groundshaker as just a vacation fun trip. So someone, consider throwing another summer comppp

i agree and i like the idea of maybe a comp like the 2nd week of may..most schools i think end first week of may so this shud be a nice comp for colleges to top off the year..cuz i dnt think many college teams (especially east coast) go to bruin

Plus those independent teams with people in different schools would give a good chunk of time to practice together, rather than rotating on different schedules. At least that would be the case for some.

keep in mind organizers have venue constraints and other logistical issues. and yea it'd be crazy to have a comp every week of the year lol

also comps around times like beginning of semester/end of semester and spring break are all sucky times. in the college sphere there are really a handful of good weekends.
