Bhangra Duet on Dance India Dance

I watch this show every week and I always thought they were pretty thorough in their research and knowledge of the different dance forms but I was surprised at how awful the bhangra was!! It was a sort of Bolly-Bhangra...ahhh!


Sad that Nikkitasha is gone :/ she probably could have done the bhangra segment better and taught them some real moves!!!

It was bollywood-ified, but the dance was done to "Rang De Basanti", so are we really that surprised? My mom recorded it and wants my sister and I to do the exact dance at an upcoming wedding. FML in more ways than you can imagine. FML.


The chick, though, was not only gorgeous, but actually pretty good. Give her a folk set and I'm sure she could have aced that too. However, did anyone else notice that the dude was wearing his PAGH BACKWARDS? The turla was not only in the back, but facing back as well! And DAMN, there was so much leg showing, but I have a feeling that was intended.

I freaking LOVE SHAKTI!! I think it's going to be Dharmesh because he's the most popular, but Shakti is my choice to win.

And yes I noticed he was wearing it backwards, and when it fell and he put it back on at the end he put it on properly then put it on backwards again!! It was nice of Terrence to apologize for it falling off though...he woulda gotten so much shit from BTF otherwise hahaha

haha omg! I have to agree with your friend's dad, some of the stuff is just so silly it has nothing to do with "dance" but it's just entertainment, which is why I am more appreciative of when they do actual dance forms....I really enjoyed Geeta's incorporation of different dance styles in Amreeta and Binny's performance yesterday.

Did he really just wear the pagg backwards (turla anyway)?? That's like the first thing I noticed. Also, highly disrespectful when the pagg fell off and they just kept dancing over it/on it.

Seems like they need to get highly educated on Punjabi roots, culture, and traditions before attempting a "circus act" like this again.

ya but we all know that was amreeta's doing. Geetha's like oh they didn't know any styles...but ya come on amreeta is trained in a bunch of them and it's clear she wasn't gonna allow herself to do any stupid shit. Geeta's blacklight dance with kishore and dharmesh was crazy good but it was 90% in the costume/makeup and concept

also Basim:

both Terrence and Jack both took out like 20 seconds to explain the significance of the pagh and apologize for dropping/dancing over it. So in my book that's enough, can't expect him to run off stage and hand it to someone when most of the audience won't care

Yea, I think the pagg situation was resolved very well as Terrence obviously knows the significance considering he went out of his way to apologize.

Yea Amreeta is sick too, she is definitely well trained in various styles and every one of her performances shows that off, she's so crisp in her movements I love her also, but I want to see her do some hip hop and see how she fares...


Re Dharmesh and Kishore's performance, loved the concept and I especially liked when they showed the illusion of Lord Krishna dancing over Kaliya Naag, but yea it was more the effects that made the performance v. the dancing.
