It's funny that teams like empire make sets and re-use them to win more than one comp, no originality and respect for different competitions...I say this because teams like NYPD, who probably could have won every comp with their elite 8 routine will never do the same routine on stage again.

Im just saying, routines made and performed for a specific comp shouldnt be re-used...its not illegal..LOL..but I just think you should present something more during your next comp.
its not disrespectful to the competition if they bring the same set to their competition. for the teams, its all about winning the first place trophy and if their set allows them to do that, why not re-use it. i mean look at cal for example, they used the same set for like a string of 5 different competitions and changed it up slightly for each competition because they really didn't have time to make a new set and get it down perfectly AND because the set that they had was fire. again, for the teams, its all about winning, not about the respect for the competition. if cal had made a new set, it may have been a better set, but they would be sloppy as hell on that stage. instead of doing this, they perfected their original set and placed four times in a row.
compare our RPVD and Blowout videos, different sets :) . And nah, its not "all about winning", I cherish the memories Ive made with my team more than any number of trophies. Thanx for the love.

haha..our team put in countless hours to dance as one, which is the goal for our team, i'm not saying it is the goal for every team..but it is for cal. And as far as it goes for the sets, you should compare our RPVD and blowout sets(as manreet mentioned ). Clearly agree though, trophies are not everything =)
Soorma23 Alot more goes into it than just doing the same set repeatedly. This wasnt empire's EXACT same set. They never did their gimmick with the dholi before and probably a few things other than that. Every comp is different and it's not like these teams just take the same exact set. They have to do it all over again, and mistakes can happen. The only way you could really argue originality would be if the sets were stolen from other teams etc. Also, to say its disrespectful to the competitions.. These comps know what theyre doing. They make a modern, traditional, w/e, comp and they invite/accept teams that cater to that. Then those teams make sets that cater to the rubric. This isn't anything new. Saying its disrespectful seems pointless. These competitions aren't nieve.. I'm sure bruin was just as satisfied and appreciative of empire and all of the rest of the teams as the audience was.
Sdadoo is right i mean... yeah, we dance for the love of it, and thats why we all do those free gigs and are the last ones to leave the dance floor, but you paid registration, sometimes fly across the states, and you do it to win. I know thats not the ONLY reason, but you put in hard work and long hours to have that perfect set that will win you 1st place. I understand the need to explain your reasoning for it after what sdadoo said because your team is a very humble team, but he's technically still right. Agreed trophies aren't everything (just roll with the punches) but you compete for them, so winning does mean something.

I agree with everything you said, I would have loved to change up the set a bit more between comps but balancing bhangra and school is tough at times. sdadoo no offense taken bro, I just wanted to bring to light that we used two sets this year. :)

yeah im sorry i really didn't mean to offend you guys in any way. i really do have mad respect for cal bhangra and i didn't mean for what i said to be disrespectful. my only point was that teams like you can be successful if you reuse segments in different sets.
