The Bhangra Fever Committee and the Binghamton Bhangra team would like to thank everyone for making Bhangra Fever 6 a tremendous success. It truly was exciting to see all of the hard work transform into a reality over the weekend.

We would like to thank all of the teams for being very respectful and cooperative. Everyone who took the stage Saturday night gave nothing less than their best effort. The performances were truly amazing.

We would like to thank Harjot from GTV for making it out to Bhangra Fever for the third year in a row. It has been a pleasure to host him and we are very grateful for all of the wonderful work he does to spread this beautiful culture and record some of our most cherished bhangra memories. Thank you to Amitoj, Govind and Kinnell for judging. And a huge thank you to DJ Raj Minocha and DJ Harvey for making the Bhangra Fever after party what it is and always will be - a tremendous success. Also, thank you to our emcee Hardeep Singh for doing an incredible job on stage, and the ushers/theater staff who helped us make sure that everything was running smoothly during the show.

Congratulations to all of the placing teams - Shaan Mutiyaaran Di, CMU Bhangra, and Alamo City Bhangra, as well as all of the performing teams - every performance was phenomenal.

We are looking forward to feedback and review from teams or anyone who may have attended Bhangra Fever 6. Annual feedback and review helps us make our competition better the following year.

Please feel free to share your thoughts below!

Look forward to Bhangra Fever 7 next year! :)

Congrats again to SMD CMU and Alamo on the very well deserved placings you all killed it!

The competition went really smoothly beginning to end and it was clear how much effort you guys put in to making to happen. This was my first legitimate all Bhangra competition so I cant speak from much experience but everything was great. Shout out to Hardeep for emceeing and helping tie some of our paghs, Daman for tying the rest, and Kevin for making everything happen and being so on point when we needed anything all weekend. All the available practice space after the mixer and all day saturday was really nice. Didn't even make it to the afterparty so I can't say much on that front haha but I'm sure it was great. Thanks again for hosting a great weekend and I hope we'll see you back in Binghamton soon. :D

It was a great weekend, despite the bone chilling cold. Congratulations to ALL the teams, the atmosphere was great and everyone was positive. One of my highlights this weekend was the massive Rail Gaddi we had going at the mixer, I have never seen anything like that before :)

Some teams have asked to receive copies of their videos to prepare for other competitions coming up soon. For all performing teams, please head on over to http://registration.gabroo.tv and have one member of your team (preferably captain) fill out the form. I will start editing in the order that the responses are received.

Thanks,
Harjot

From the mixer to the after party, everything ran smoothly as we were very impressed with how everything came together. Hats off to the committee for putting together such an unforgettable experience!

I want to personally shout out Kevin and Daman for tending to all of our concerns and needs this past weekend as they were very responsive and quick in accommodating us.

Thank you Kevin & the rest of the Fever committee for planning a relatively stress-free comp weekend. Our team (all 20+ of us that came) had a fantastic time.

Congrats again to SMD, CMU, and Alamo City! Sid, hope your foot’s alright – don’t know how you managed to kill it on stage even with that injury. Shoutout to Shawn for tying my pagg, and our liaison Saisree for being there to help us all weekend!

Here’s my review. Fever was very well-organized overall (as it was last year), and hopefully this feedback is helpful in making it even better next year.

Mixer: Musical chairs and the dance offs were a ton of fun. Loved the idea of randomly assigning tables so everyone could meet people from other teams. Seems like there could have been a couple shorter games as well? There was only musical chairs and the impromptu jhummar competition, and then we just waited for a while before the judges meeting, so it would have been nice to have a few more games in that time to get different people involved from all the teams. Would’ve been nice to have one or two additional food options in addition to the pasta, salad, and garlic knots. Also, glad that the lineup was determined randomly by drawing team names out of a bag — that’s exactly how it should be.

Tech time: Ran a little late, but went smoothly overall and Kevin and Saisree kept us updated as the timeline changed. The dance studio after the stage time was super helpful. If at all possible, please have the bagels at the hotel before tech time, instead of at the venue for afterwards. We had a morning slot, so most of our dancers didn’t eat before leaving the hotel and did tech time without having eaten much, if at all. Probably avoidable on our part, but it would’ve been really convenient to get those bagels at the hotel since the hotel didn’t provide breakfast.

Show: We had to keep asking to find out about our call and performance times. Would have been really helpful to get updates from Kevin or others about when the show was starting, when we’d roughly expect to have to go backstage, etc. (we found out the show was starting from our team members in the audience).

Post-Show: Judges meetings were longer than 5 minutes, but the judges’ feedback was really helpful and as long as everyone gets enough time, that’s totally fine. We had to wait a while to talk to the judges though, and others had to wait even longer after us. Having the meetings at the hotel with assigned meeting times (e.g. in show order) could've saved everyone time so that the captains could get out of vardiyaan or whatever instead of sitting in line at the venue. I imagine it just comes down to the budget, but if at all possible, some food for after performances would be great (we ended up ordering pizza).

After party: I imagine some people had trouble finding it, since it was pretty inconspicuous, but we didn’t have a problem since it was the same venue as last year. The party itself was a ton of fun – great music, vibe, and venue.

You guys set a high bar for comps in terms of organization – thanks for a great weekend!

Alamo City had a great time at Bhangra fever. This was our first time at this comp and it was definitely a memorable one. We loved sharing the stage with all of the wonderful teams.

Pros:
- Kevin. He was wonderful and answered all of our questions and always saw him running around making sure everything was running smoothly.
- The show itself was relatively good for staying on schedule.
- The google hangout was very helpful and the pre/post judges meeting. We got a lot of good feedback.
- The length of the tech time was great.
- The hotel was very nice.

Cons
- Sometimes it felt like the liaisons were preoccupied with their own performances which left us hanging around and figuring out things on our own. There was a lot of unclarity especially during tech time and the show. It got confusing navigating everywhere esp at the venue.
- Transportation: There wasn't much help from the committee. We basically had to drive ourselves around in our own cars. Fortunately we had rental cars since we didn't fly into Binghamton but at the very least, out of state teams shouldn't be left to find their own transportation.
- Food: agree with the above, I think we all would've loved a post comp meal and the bagels and stuff at the hotel instead of the venue.
