Hey BTF!

Here are the placings from this past weekend:

Music
1. Nachdi Jawani Folk Loverz
2. Soormay
3. Virginia School of Bhangra

Live
1. Punjabi Folk Dance Academy
2. Punjabi Heritage and Folk

Congratulations to all placing teams and performing teams. You all put on fantastic performances!

Finally, it is also time for a review of this weekend. With BIT6ix being our first comp we wouldn't be truthful if we said we weren't nervous, but with that nervousness came excitement. We believed in our team and our supporters to help us provide an amazing experience for our guests: the teams. We would just like all teams to know that we were honoured to host each and every one of you this weekend and we certainly hope you all apply for Bhangra in the 6ix next year. With that being said, no competition goes with out it's hiccups and we were no exception. We'd like to apologize to all teams for the technical issues which delayed the tech time and we appreciate their cooperation and understanding in that matter. This allowed us to flow straight into a contingency and get teams their tech time. Aside from this we've heard over and over again, from teams, about how much they enjoyed the weekend. We ask all teams to go ahead and post a review of their experience so that we may continue implementing the positive aspects and improve on the negative ones.

P.S. A huge huge thank you to all teams as this weekend went without a single complaint from the venue and the hotel. You were all amazing!

Regards,

Bhangra in the 6ix Committee

I'm surprised this post hasn't been bombarded with compliments and weekend analysis.
I'll post mine after this weekend, but to Prabh, Sehji and the rest of the team, everyone appreciated all the work you guys put in and we definitely had an incredible time.

This is my own opinion as a dancer.

Pro:
  • The organization introduced themselves. Told us what to expect form them and us.
  • Gift basket was great
  • Hotel being walking distance of Home Depot and Walmart
  • Once the show started for the dancers [vs audience] was very smooth
  • Tons of space to dance at after party
  • After party wasn't shut down
Cons:
  • Mixer was longer than it should have been. [PM me about further details]
  • Being told that after party is a huge focus at the mixer. [This should never be stated. The show should be the main focus.]
  • No proper tech time.
  • "Tech time" dimension where NO WHERE NEAR stage dimensions
  • When we had time on stage; having time to only do one walk through is not enough. [Having such an early show start time is a bad idea]
  • Having only one big room to change...
  • Time spent on stage waiting for placings.
  • Shuttles for teams after placings were announced
  • Bar at the after party. [Cash bar only...that you had to buy tickets for? Not sure how this made sense. Specially for teams that weren't from Canada]
