The Bhangra in the Burgh Executive Committee of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is proud to present our second annual Bhangra Competition on November 8th, 2008! This Competition is an opportunity for different communities to come together to showcase the best dance teams around the world. Bhangra in the Burgh has grown into the largest student run event at Carnegie Mellon, attracting a sold-out crowd of 2,500 people and raising over $5,000 for charity. Due to the Competition's popularity, growth, and outreach, this year we hope to raise even more money for our local charity, Homeless Children's Educational Fund of Allegheny County (HCEF). This year, we are showcasing some of the best Bhangra teams from across the country and we're excited to invite their groupies. The event also presents Last Comic Standing's Paul Varghese and performances by local student groups - CMU Variety Hour, CMU Originals, Point Park IMPULSE, CMU Tanah, Pitt Raas and of course CMU Chak de. By fusing the energy of Punjabi culture with service for our community, we present to you: Bhangra in the Burgh 2008 - Experience it.
