Hey everyone,

So I realized there probably aren't many bhangra outfit shops in toronto. I was wondering if anyone has contact info. for someone in India or anywhere else? I have a certain design in mind and it's not difficult, in fact it's quite easy. Only thing is, I need these outfits to be made and shipped quickly. I'll probably be putting in the order August 22 b/c of our team's tryouts (east carolina university muqabla). If anyone has contact info..plz help me out..we need these by the 2nd week of october at the very LATEST..i understand this could be somewhat of a hassle but let's see what we can do..first priority is finding a contact.

I'd greatly appreciate everyone's help

I'm sure your need is great, but I doubt you need to post 2 threads essentially asking for the same things - costume information.

The best and quickest way to get your information, is by using the search function. There are a few websites that people suggest. Among them are and ALL found via the search:

www.bhangracostumes.com
www.punjabemall.com
http://www.vdiexports.com/subcat_product.asp?cid=49

I do have a contact in New Dehli as well, but she is way too expensive. ($2500 for 16 costumes)

You could sign up for Jo Ann fabrics mailing list, get a 40% coupon, go to Jo Ann, pick some fabric (they have GREAT fabric for bhangra costumes, wide selection of colors, desi patterns, and textures), buy some ribbon or whatever decoration you need, and find a local aunty or two to sew them up for you. Just ask around, surely there is some aunty or grandma who will sew for a little extra money.

For the accessories that guys wear and stuff, I'm sure you could make them locally if you needed to. Just find some yarn and those puffy balls they sell at Jo Ann, lol, and get creative. Good luck and see you in Atlanta, lol

Good advise Mariam. We also made our own for a small, local university team.. it saved us a whole lot of money, since we (being college students) were on a very tight budget. Also, we knew that we wouldn't be needing them to look super professional for any national competition or anything, so we had an auntie helped us out with them.

If your teams gots $$$ to spend and wants the some very professional vardiya, Punjab is your best bet. As Kinell suggested, try out: www.bhangracostumes.com That site is ran by someone whose been in the bhangra circuit for a long while, so he'll definitely know what you're after.

P.S. - puffy balls for bhangra outfits = phuman ;D
