Competitions-
Alright so just by watching all the Bhangra videos on the internet and going to the competitions, one thing is for sure that a competition can never really be fair.
But how can the competitions be fair enough (what are some of your thoughts!!!)
Ex- Every competitions should have different categories (Live and Music)

Bhangra Styles and Trends-
In my opinion there are different Bhangra styles these days.
Dancing Gracefully and Neatly.
Or just going Crazy and Fast.(Yes you can still be graceful, but its just not the same)
Stunts and all that teams don't really risk doing that much anymore.

So in 2009 the new Bhangra trend is Formations and having dancers do some different steps at the same time.
The Swinging of the Dangs. ec.
(what are some of your thoughts)

Just fell like teams especially in US are trying to be like teams in Toronto
Are the teams being forced because they fell like that's what the judges wants to see (what do you think)
I can't really say that about Toronto Teams because only thing is that there is a lot of rivalry in Toronto but they back it up with their routines. Instead of trying to be like them they take it to the next level. Ex. Almost all of them LOL.

Would really like to see US teams be themselves because there is a lot of hidden talent that others need to see.

Toronto is in North America. Are you trying to say US teams are like Toronto teams?

I dont think US teams are trying to be like T.O. teams. US has diverse styles too. I think there is still a west coast style and there are various east coast styles. then i think there's a toronto style and a vancouver-area style.

so i dont think any homogenization is happening. rather, the only overall trend that u can really put a finger on is a move toward traditionality and being more like indian teams with standard moves. no one is doing handkerchiefs and "slam" moves anymore, the early KJ style of dance is more or less gone. no one is shaking their head back and forth relentlessly anymore, that kind of thing. or doing jugni but bobbing/slicing your elbow back and forth fiercely as you do it. That used to be "a thing."

as for what judges want, they haven't been sending very clear messages. Every comp seems to favor a diff. paradigm

Isn't this thread and the other thread (The Trend) the exact same shit?

A new trend, nonetheless, doing kabaddi....

every comp should have thier own category. there shouldnt be 9 music teams and 1 dhol team. judges always take the dhol team in consideration. bhangra masti should be the example for EVERY comp out there.
