Bhangra Video Copyright Claims

Teams should be allowed to dictate whether they want their videos posted or not. If they have a particular shitty performance that they don't want on youtube for everyone to see, they should be allowed to have that choice.

Filing a copyright claim however is completely dickish. I posted a video of UVA's performance at BBC 2010, and nearly a year after it was up someone from BBC submitted a copyright claim. This messed up my account so that I couldn't post unlisted videos anymore. If you've been on a bhangra team in the past few years, you know how necessary it is to post unlisted videos, simply for practice purposes. I had to go far out of my way to get this reversed.

If Empire didn't want their video up, then they should've messaged you and asked you to take it down. I'm willing to bet that most people on this forum aren't assy enough to deny that kind of request. Filing a copyright claim for the video instead is downright spiteful.

I hope you get your youtube channel back to normal. You could probably go ahead and make a new channel with relative ease, but it's the principle that matters here.

...you guys aren't dumb. what did you expect from empire? he posted that video on a thread that bashed empire and mirzas blog if you haven't come to expect by now that empire (mirza) would file a complaint over that, then you're just being naive. I mean that's kind of the reason why the question in this thread was from a legal perspective blah blah blah and not him whining over the actual copyright claim. the whole "as a reference thing' -_- come on man. the way you posted it (contextually) had douche written all over it. plus you not posting any "comments" leaves the reader to interpret the 'intent' from whatever perspective they want. blame this on lack of communication from both parties not just one
