There are many services out there that have tried to combine social networks (ie: Youtube, Twitter, Facebook) in one location, but in the end, if it doesn't simplify the process or enhance it, it won't succeed. BhangraConnect draws and combines the features of Facebook and Youtube in a specialized way, but currently fails to do anything new.
Will teams stop creating Facebook groups for their teams? Will competition organizers stop creating Facebook events for their competitions? Will we move to the nearly empty and private discussion board (requires registration) on BhangraConnect instead of the thriving community here? All of these would severely limit the publicity of their respective entities to a very small population of active bhangra community users and provide almost no benefits.
There's promise, but I think its very premature to predict the downfall of BTF, especially with something that seems to have been created with a "social network template". There are plenty of people who started social networks that at least have more features than Facebook but failed to maintain their user base. Ever heard of them? Me neither.
