Hey all,

We would like to begin announcing the judges for Big 10 Bhangra Competition this week. Our competition's goal is to make this the best bhangra experience for all teams - a big part of this to our board means that competing teams get the best feedback and critiques on their performance. In order to allow for this, we have asked some of the most intelligent and innovative dancers in the circuit to judge and be a part of our competition.

First up, we would like to introduce, all the way from the West Coast, Gurpreet Dhaliwal:

Over the span of 8 years, Gurpreet Dhaliwal has competed at over 40 bhangra competitions across the US and Canada with teams such as Bhangra Knightz, Ankhiley Gabroo, and Bhangra Empire. He has choreographed and made formations for all of these teams, as well as having leadership roles of a coach and captain. To add greater variety, he has also competed with Virse De Waris and Bar Area Bhangra Club, traditional live music teams. Having performed on a wide range of teams that focus on building strong dancers and innovative routines over an extended period of time, he has gained a strong understanding and appreciation for folk bhangra, as well as the evolution of the art form to incorporate creative elements into the traditional steps, and he is glad to use these experiences to help him as a judge. Previously, he has judged at Bhangra in the Burgh 8 & 9, Elite 8 Bhangra 2015, Worlds Best Bhangra Crew 2015, and Legacy of Bhangra 2016.

We are honored to have the pleasure of hosting Gurpreet as one of our judges!

Don't miss out on the opportunity to become a part of our competition- apply now here! Applications will be accepted until November 28th- further details can be found in the google form.

Hey all,

We would now like to introduce our third judge for Big 10: from Toronto we have Harry Kainth!

Harry's passion for dance began at a very young age and since then he has been involved in dancing, competing, and teaching Punjabi folk dance for over 10 years. Being coached and guided by some of the most prestige Bhangra dancers across North America has left him with an excelled level of understanding and knowledge of Punjabi folk dance.

Harry began dancing and started learning at the Punjabi Dance Academy as he was a member of the 2007 Shan-E Punjab Juniors where he learned the fundamentals of Bhangra. In 2008, he joined one of Toronto's newest up and coming bhangra teams, Nachde Yaar Punjab De (NYPD). As a member of NYPD, Harry has been an integral part of the groups success over the last 8 years which included competing and placing at prestigious competitions across North America such as Bhangra at The Bell 2014, Motor City Bhangra 2013, Elite 8 Bhangra 2012, Boston Bhangra 2011, Bhangra Fusion 2010, among many others. At the collegiate level, Harry has been the Head Bhangra Coordinator/Choreographer for York University for 3 of the past 4 years and was awarded the BestBhangra Award in 2014. Harry has previously judged UGA India Night 2016 which took place in Athens, Georgia where he specialized in Bhangra as well as Legacy of Bhangra in California. In summer of 2016 Harry had an amazing opportunity in which he got to visit Sydney Australia for three weeks where we he practiced/ danced with Bhangra All-Stars Sydney [BASS] competing at Bruin Bhangra 2016 where they happily placed third.
