A Big Thank You to our Liaisons- GMU Bhangra

Dear BAB Committee,

On behalf of GMU Bhangra, we would like to thank you for having us at BAB IV and for giving us the best liaisons! Simran Saini and Raji Sohi you guys know exactly what a Bhangra team needs for a competition and on a competition weekend. From the point you were assigned to us, you both were always a step ahead and responded quickly to our questions and concerns! We met all the comp. deadlines and reached all the events on time because of you guys! And most importantly, you kept us hydrated and well fed throughout the weekend; pizza in front of us right after we ended our performance?!?! No one can beat that. Hahah Hope we get more liaisons like you for our future comps!

Congrats to the winners and all the teams that got to perform in front of a strong panel of judges and a wonderful audience!

Thank You!

Firstly, I want to say that BAB is a competition that I absolutely look forward to every year. It has consistently been one of the best competitions on the circuit, in my opinion. Some positives from the weekend:
1. Hotel was awesome - didn't get kicked out which was an added plus.
2. Afterparty was awesome - didn't get kicked out which was an added plus.
3. Stage was huge and auditorium was great.
4. Committee was extremely helpful (from what I saw), and liaisons did a great job.
5. Practice spaces in the hotel on Friday night were pretty easy to come by, and the hotel staff was really accommodating.

That being said, there were some logistical issues this year that I haven't seen before, and that I hope can be addressed moving forward:
1. Provide some sort of transportation (or some monetary help) for people coming from bus stations.
2. Have the mixer venue be closer to the hotel. If felt like a 45 minute drive (could have been a few min more or less - just a guess).
3. Save some of the "wasted" time at the mixer. Instead of having each team raise their score of the dancers individually, why wouldn't everyone just raise it at once and you add up the score? Seemed like we waited for 10 minutes in between each mixer performance.
4. Serve dinner earlier at the mixer. This is common to most competitions, but I def noticed it more so at BAB. Dinner was served I think at 9:30pm.
5. Tech time. Oh my god, tech time. I understand that delays happen. However, we were the second to last team in the show order, we were supposed to have our stage time at 1:05/1:15 I believe, and we were not on stage till around 4pm. The doors were scheduled to open at 5:00pm. We want to go all-out in a stage rehearsal, to make sure we address any issues, but when we went on at 4, not burning ourselves out for the evening became a realistic concern.

Overall, the weekend was a great one, just hope some of the logistical issues can be fixed next time around. Big thank you to everyone on Virsa who helped put this together, and I hope to see yall next year!
