Hey I'm Anjli, the new captain of Boiler Bhangra. A few weeks ago we had our first performance of the year, a local show at Purdue. This is a new team with many dancers that haven't danced before. I know there is a lot we can improve on, and any advice or suggestions are welcomed. Currently, we are in the process of shooting our audition video for comps and we'd like to change as much as we can for it. Thanks! Please PM me or send all critiques to our email: boilerbhangra@gmail.com

Hey Anjli, very good job on the performance so far! I know its tough to get all dancers on the same page when so many have 0 experience, so I commend you on getting this far already. A lot of the things that you guys can work on are the raw basics, and those things would really improve the dancing ability and overall set. My suggestion is to start with footwork (high knees, backstomps, swings, etc) and drill those at every practice. What I saw was some people would turn their bodies when they should have been facing forward, so make sure to eliminate that at practices. For high knees especially, make sure to get them up! Energy may be an issue now but with a full blown routine bordering on 8 minutes, you want as much energy as possible, so stray away from getting lazy with those legs! Also, make sure people don't start just kicking out their feet instead of properly bringing up their knees. If you watch other team videos, see how consistent they are with their footwork. Widening stances helps a lot. Another thing was completing moves, which I think comes with more confidence and practice. Make sure everyone knows the full move and is hitting them on beat. If you have a mirror room where you can practice, take advantage of it. Show each individual where their arms are, and where they should be..this will also make the moves look "bigger". I think your jhummar interaction was nice, but a little more shoulder action would be great!

Just some things I think you guys can start with. Good job so far and best of luck!
