Boom Boxes aka Speaker Systems

Hey everone,

So I'm looking for a boom box or a new speaker system itself for our team's practices for next year. I want something so that it doesn't screw with the "background effects" of a mix or any song or anything like that. I had a couple in mind i saw online at best buy, but I honestly am an idiot w/ electronics and don't know which one is the best one. It was a speaker system with an ipod port and it was up to 530 watts for 200 dollasrs. I want something so that if i turn it up really loud at our practices (so we can hear the music adn every part of the mix over our sapps and stuff) that the sound quality won't go bad.

Any suggestions?? Places to loook?? Specifications to look out for??

ps - please dont give me any suggestions that are systems for like 500 or anything, something reasonable.

Here is the one I was looking at:

only thing with these is that there are a lot of components to carry? (i.e. the shelf system, put it on a shelf and leave it)

I recomment anything with 2 satellites and a sub. Try the Creature II, http://www.amazon.com/JBL-Creature-II-3-Piece-Powered/dp/B0001DQ5YG

not the most powerful system but it's portable (so even girls can carry it!) and it's pretty durable. Alternatively the Logitech 2300 is good too:

Huge bass, great output so it can be heard pretty well even outside (we've done practices outside in september and usually this is the only speaker that you can kind of hear decently)

hope that helps, both of these are cheaper than the shelf option too cause they dont' include cd system and all that they're just speakers. I figure you'll have a laptop or ipod so why pay for extra stuff that just adds size?

we use the same logitechs during outdoor practices.. good bass, shit highs but clear mids.. aslong as their not first generation you can pretty much pound them all day and they wont blow and their pretty cheap too. recommend it for sure

now as to boom box stereos, go with anytyhing JVC. best bang for your buck

we use those logitec speakers at our practices. they get the job done and we are constantly asked to turn our music down so others can hear theirs.

you should get a studio monitor like a krk rokit or something...u can get two or can get by with one....you can control your bass levels and all....its a monitor for studios so in other words you hear pretty much EVERYTHING

cheers!
