Derek, your hit at 6:47 was siiiick. You and your jodi straight murdered the ending segment.

I don't know if the decision to go 8 guys and 4 girls was intentional/out of necessity, but I thought that the asymmetry made your formations much more interesting to watch.

Regarding set execution, one major thing that the team could improve on is stiffness in the upper body. Seems like many dancers are hitting moves hard with their arms, but there's a disconnect between the arms and the rest of their bodies. This makes the dancing seem jerky.

Just upping modhey isn't the solution, in my opinion; modhey without control can look super sloppy. My ballet instructor gave me some great advice that's actually pretty applicable here:

Imagine, instead, that each time you move your arm, it's a representation of a muscle working within the trunk of your body (e.g. torso, chest). In other words, when you pull back your arm for moves like pataka, it's the stretch/broadening of the chest muscles that initiates the move. Not the arms. To have that natural flow, everything has to feel connected!

Anyways, great job! Looking forward to watching more performances!

I love how you guys incorporated the 4 girl 8 guy set. Definitely unique to your set. With that being said, if you are going to use that then you also have to make sure that those 4 girls can dance to the high energy level as the rest of the team because all eyes will definitely be on them. For parts of the set they did and for parts they didnt. Also there was a lot of dancer discrepancy between the 4 girls which kind of hurt because it was more noticeable. Along with that, that same discrepancy was visible with the rest of the team as well. Usually there is always some discrepancy between dancers on every team but it was really noticeable here because each individual did a move differently, moved their feet differently, and did complete different things with their head. If more time was spent cleaning and making sure everyone looks the same then your entire performance would have hit a LOT harder.

If you are gonna do a kato segment, then try to do something unique with it. I wasnt a big fan of this segment because it was extremely short, everyone was holding the katos differently, and it didnt make that much of an impact on me. It kinda just felt like you guys put it in to put it in. Just my opinion though!

Another thing is that when people did jumps, spins, or behtke, they always slightly moved out of formation which hurt the formation as a whole and made the set look sloppier. Its hard, but that body discipline needs to be there to make sure that you remain in one place when doing those things. I loved some of the formations that you guys created especially incorporating the 4 girls but they became sloppier when every other person moved from formation just a little bit.

Energy and footwork dropped really hard towards the end to a point where it was noticeable that people were stepping rather than dancing. I am also big on Chaadre, a lot of leg was shown throughout the entire set so make sure that the chaadre are properly tied so that less leg is shown.

Red/black destroyed the ending. Props to the girls, but you have to push yourselves harder and take it to the next level to keep the energy level of the guys next to you. I loved the beginning and i liked how you made it a surprise for the girls to come in.

Overall i enjoyed the set, if you guys could clean it up a bit it would be wonderful. Good luck the rest of the year and Im looking forward to see what you guys come up with next :D
