Brand to the 76ers, and Maggette to the Warriors

I think we ended up ok. Still woulda been nicer if we had been able to steal Brand but with Turiaf off the bench ad Wright/Harrignton starting at 4 we should be ok as far as energy and rebounding is concerned. The only way for us to pick up Maggs was if we overpaid him a bit (like we did) otherwise he was gonna end up in the hands of a strong contender like San Anton or Boston. Since we don't really need a pure PG with the offense we run, I think this is a better pickup than overpaying BD, given we resign Ellis. Maggs will end up at the line more, will give us a better FG% than BD, and bring a little more sense of perimeter defense. The only problem I have is that they're going in the same direction. I was hoping for someone who could help slow the game down and bring more of a defensive presence. I guess that will only happen when were done with Nellie ball.

sixers will be improved no doubt, but still, far from contending. i see them being 5 at best in the east. boston is still 1, detroit/orlando (getting pietrus was a huge steal, he will flourish in orlando)/cleveland will make some mess for 2-4, then toronto, philly, atlanta (if they keep josh smith), jersey, chicago if they can properly sort out their roster and maximize the value (hinrich in golden state? could work!) round out your playoff contenders in the east.
as far as my beloved warriors, gugu said it best, they are moving horizontally; getting brand would have been huge, and im sure baron davis wishes he had a time machine now haha. but this is a young team, maggette will do quite fine in oaktown, and they had to overpay to get him, and needed to get someone to avoid the offseason from being a total loss.
