Thank you to all the teams that applied to Bruin Bhangra 12. We
apologize for the delay, but this year's applicants were exceptionally
talented, making the decision all the harder for the Bruin Bhangra
Committee. Without further ado, it is our pleasure to present to you

The Battle

This year the Bruin Bhangra Committee has decided to add another
competitive element to the show. In order to highlight the many new
changes that Bruin Bhangra will be implementing this year, the Bruin
Bhangra Committee decided to add a new component to the bhangra
competition. “The Battle” will be a dance-off at the end of the show
which will be conducted to determine the first and second place
winners. The battle will give the most deserving teams a chance to
further display their skills and creativity. Moreover, this allows the
two best teams to be seen competing head-to-head, allowing for
meritorious placings that truly reflect the worthiness of the winning
team.

The Experience
If you haven't heard yet, Bruin's bringing it back to LA. Bruin
Bhangra 12 will be held at LA LIVE: Club Nokia in the heart of
Downtown Los Angeles. The show begins promptly at 6PM.

The Party
The official Bruin Bhangra 12 afterparty will be held at Club Nokia,
and will begin at 10 PM.

Not diggin the danceoff idea...why should the top 2 teams have to perform again after going all out in their initial performances? I think thats a really weird way to determine the winner. Considering their best performance will probably be their first one

Also not liking the dance-off idea, that would better be suited for maybe a separate award but not to determine the winner of the competition (which should be based on a whole routine not what you can come up with in xyz seconds).

Excited for Bruin but I am concerned about this dance-off. Judging should be based on the 8-minute performance; there's no need for a one-minute (or however long) dance-off.

If one performance is better, it should take 1st. Forget this dance-off gimmick. And what if one team was the first to perform, and the other was last? How are dance-off points determined? I just dont see value in this gimmick.

The difficulty posed when you determine 1st and 2nd place winners based on a dance off is this: EVEN if, say, a team was to receive the mix for their "dance off" prior to the event (so they have time to prep it) what do you focus on more? Your 8 minute routine which will get you to the dance off, or the dance off which will place you first or second? I think this takes away from the prep that will go into the 8 minute routines and the routines will not be AS good as they could be if the dance off was not an issue.

and i think maybe bruin should use the "dance off" at the end as maybe a seperate, fun award, like a people's choice/best dressed kinda thing. i dont think it should be used to determine the best team there. not trying to start a modern vs traditional debate, but a dance off with someone from APD vs. someone of VDW/BABC/PANJ would look pretty ridiculous becaues of the clash of styles hahhaa. actually i wanna see that.

Agreed 100% - I really like this creativity you guys are putting forth but instead you should maybe have a dance off to determine the top dancer or something like that? Each team can select one team member to go up and dance off for about 20-30 seconds and the crowd/judges will determine who the best dancer at the comp was
