The Bruin Bhangra Committee is excited to announce registration details for Bruin Bhangra XIII! With the competition season well underway, we are thrilled to open applications to teams. As the last competition of the year, Bruin Bhangra is the stage for teams to showcase their most creative and crowd-pleasing routines and end the season with a bang!

By opening registration well in advance this year we hope to get a diversity of applicants. We want to give as many teams as possible the opportunity to apply and ultimately perform at the West Coast's premier bhangra competition. The application is attached to this post, and is also available on our website, www.bruinbhangra.com
. Please note that the application is due March 4th, 2011 at 11:59 PM PST.

Bruin Bhangra XIII will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at one of the most beautiful theaters in Southern California, and of course preceded and followed by parties for participants and fans at spectacular venues in Los Angeles. Please do not hesitate to contact the committee if you have any questions or concerns! Email us at bruinbhangra@gmail.com.

We look forward to sharing an incredible Memorial Day Weekend with you!

Is it going to be at LA Live like last year or Long Beach? The venue seating/stage was kind of congested last year

Yea from what i heard, LA Live wasnt as good for the show itself. Terrace Theatre was wicked nice.

I think the Long Beach theater was far better! Bigger stage, more people, and better seating.

Thanks everyone, we are really looking forward to hosting a spectacular show this year!

The venue is yet to be announced, we'll post the information as soon as all details and contracts have been finalized.

We understand concerns about stage size, and this year we have made renting a more spacious theater a priority because Club Nokia was not as large as everyone might have liked. At the same time, teams did have the opportunity to perform at a very special venue, one where such acclaimed artists like Drake and Lady Gaga have performed. LA Live was a very unique and prestigious location that had some great benefits. Of course, we do want to assure that we keep team concerns in mind , so this year we're committed to hosting the show at a venue with a larger stage.

The Long Beach Terrace Theater, as beautiful of a location as it was, is unfortunately no longer a realistic option. No committee in SoCal can sustain expenditures of over $75,000 for the theater when the audience response is not there. Venues that used to reach capacity at 3300 seats are no longer being filled. Hopefully the next few years will regenerate the hype that there once was in SoCal.

As of right now, it seems like Bruin Bhangra will be the only major competition in Southern California this year so we are working tirelessly to meet everyone's expectations. If anyone has any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please contact the committee at bruinbhangra@gmail.com directly. We appreciate your feedback and we look forward to hosting our 13th successful competition this May!

Bruin Bhangra is arguably the best competition/show there is on the scene.

Top Three Reasons:
1) always a great venue
2) always a positive vibe from the Bruin Crew.
3) always the funnest weekend.

Blast from the past...Teams used to think of creative shit all through out the year....and then save it for Bruin... nothing gets better then the west coast scene...and of course LA

My personal opinion - Bruin committee should look at options that reflect the changing scene in socal and they've done a really good job about picking venues thus far (Long Beach Terrance/NOKIA Center), and their competition has always been one of the best and is always fun, so i trust them to pick a good venue and do a great job again this year.

oh and.... go Chicago Bulls :)

I'd kill for a chance to perform on a stage like Club Nokia. I know bruin will do a great job this year as they have in years past. :)

Fixed.

But for reals, Bruin has always been a great competition. It's been around for so long and the lineups are always sick

i'll be honest, stage was super cramped, but in terms of energy of the venue it was SICK! also despite the cramped style it was infact a very intimate type of aura, instead of looking at people hundreds of feet away they were all glaring right down on you. Intimidating and motivating. I hope to get another shot with that audience, backdrops be damned.

Bruin last year was my favorite competition weekend. Every single part of the weekend, from the mixer to the show/after party to being able to hit up the beach on Monday made for a truly wonderful overall experience. It was the friendliest atmosphere I've experienced at a competition, all the local teams were so welcoming and the committee was amazing. I have no doubt that they'll put on yet another great weekend regardless of the venue!
