It's time for week 4 of the BTF ladder, and we've got a few special announcements to make, so let's get started.
1. New mods. We've got some new additions to the moderator team for the ladder. We've brought on Mithu, DamanSingh and HdBrar to help Vox and me keep the ladder running smoothly. These guys are all well-known and well-liked contributors to the ladder and to BTF as a whole, so we're really excited to have them on board.
2. New format. Rather than sticking with the existing three week cycle, we're shortening things up a little bit. The new cycle will run like this:
Sunday Night: challenge thread goes up.
Sunday/Monday-Wednesday at Midnight: Challenge period. You have until 11:59 PST on Wednesday to make your challenges. Songs will be sent out as soon as you accept your challenges.
Thursday: All challenges must be accepted by Thursday night at 11:59 PST.
Thursday-Monday: Mixing period. This is where accepting your challenge early pays big dividends: you get more mixing time. All mixes must be in by 11:59 PST on Monday night. No late mixes will be accepted.
Tuesday: Voting threads go up.
Tuesday-Saturday at noon PST: Voting period.
Saturday Night: Weekly wrapup.
3. New rules. First and foremost, we're nixing the confusing challenge format. First come, first serve is now the rule. You can't defer challenges anymore. You either accept or forfeit. In that vein, you need to accept your challenge on time, or you forfeit. Miss a deadline on turning in your mix? Forfeit. I know we're being hardcore about this, but the beauty of it is that we're cutting down the timelines on challenges, so if you miss a week or have to forfeit, no big deal, you can win your spot back in next week's round. Some other notes: we're also requiring DJs to send mixes to a designated Gmail account, as well as to whoever sent you your song for the week, and in light of last week's coin flip situation, we've created a rule that a tie will go to the defender.
With all of that out of the way, let the challenges begin! Challenges close on Wednesday, September 11 at 11:59 PM PST.
