Sup BTF,

Here is our performance from Big 10 Bhangra where we placed 3rd! Competition was a hell of a time and here are a few quick shoutouts:

- Thank you to our wonderful liaisons. Our team is a little loud and obnoxious and I'm happy you were willing to deal with us!
- Big 10 committee for running what might be the comp of the year. Everything was so well planned and organized. Felt like a 10 year comp not a first year one.
- SPD and FCB on their respective placings. Awesome performances that were even better live!
- Naishal, Sahil, and our friends on UNC for losing to us for once :D
- Everyone that came out to support us. It was incredible to hear the crowd so hype for an out-of-state team
- Judging panel for providing clear and meaningful feedback
- Dholi Ram for making the experience fun in a way only he knows how

TL;DR

We would love to hear feedback from everyone in the community so feel free to post what you liked or disliked from the video! We will post our Blowout video soon so keep an eye out for that! Enjoy

Energy was fire. My favorite thing about your set is that was very intelligently designed to conserve energy so that you could go buck when necessary. There were a lot of points in the set where the pace was reduced so that you could rest your heart rate for the next segment. Stamina was better than AKD, you guys maintained energy throughout the set. Loved the new jhummar segment, blue girl killed it with flow. However, I think the things that separate your team from being number 1 in the circuit are form and sync among your dancers. When you guys tend to go ham, you sometimes lose form and it looks flimsy and sloppy. It was very obvious to me who the experienced dancers. Best of luck next year!

Thanks for the shoutout Nimit, it was an honor ;)

Imo, buckeye bhangra has reinvented collegiate co-ed dancing this year to say the least. I really admire the energy, unique variations and unique style (relative to other collegiate teams) that you all bring. Congratulations on an amazing year, and I'm looking forward to the Blowout vid :)

Some critiques from my point of view for this specific performance:

+ Khunde choreo, you've been hearing all year, is amazing. I think you all executed to as well as you could have given the small stage size for 16.

+ The move at 2:48 is amazing. I was a fan the first time I saw the video. Could be cleaner though for max impact.
- Moves like 3:08 are unecessarily messy. I feel like you could have taken the clapping out knowing that you have 16 people on a small stage and it would be difficult to execute. I've seen this trend where sometimes there seems like to an overdose of variations where the reward is less than the risk. I think going forward, improvement on this and formation mechanisms will put buckeye on top.

+ Jhummar intro was great :)
- Lots of filler moves and movement between the two jhummars. Personally think you all could have done w/o it.
+ LOVE the second jhummar drop...it was hype af. Personally think you could have done with way more jodi interaction here. Since a lot of the moves were movable steps, you def could have added some movement.

+ Still love Ishq as a throwback for dhamaal.
+/- Vests were definitely a nice touch but would've been nice to a more creative way to get the vest off/highlight it a little more. Kind of just happened.

+ Move at 6:38 was a dope build-up.
- Imo, drop didn't hit cause of the messiness.
+ Off-beat betke walk up was hottttttt.

- The pause at 7:01 before end wasn't necessary I think, and didn't add much.
+ Again energy was great during end
- I feel like the end needed something more memorable, instead of adhering to the stagnant 2-3 lines in the front the whole time (I've also heard some judges pushing for this).

I hope you all continue the immense amount of progress that the team has made this year in being original and establishing a presence in the bhangra scene. I'm a huge fan and will continue rooting for you all in the future! :)

Much luv from NC <3

I thoroughly enjoyed your set. I spoke to you guys after NDC about how far you have come since I first competed against you in 2015 at Nachde Nashville and the progress you made this year really changed not only the college circuit, but the bhangra circuit in general. Obviously, a lot of this review is my own personal opinions on how you guys can improve, so please take as much of it as you feel applicable.

Intro

I personally loved the jumps at the beginning and really liked how you guys walked on stage. However, my one critique is that while the energy was insane, it felt a bit messy (especially the move where you guys do the same move twice and spin). Nimit props on murdering this, my eyes were drawn to you because of how you extend your arms, so try and get all your dancers to make that an even bigger priority.

Daang

I had seen this segment a few times before but I still enjoyed it. However, not a huge fan of the 4 lines (just my opinion) at the start. I loved your breakdown but just make sure that the angles are the same for everyone. Second Khunde was not extremely memorable for me, and I felt that your first two segments blew it out of the water so I would say just try and make it more impactful. However, I did like the dhamaal part within the segment. I didnt like the second breakdown but I know you guys changed this for Blowout and I found that much better. Just make sure if you are going into a breakdown make sure the levels that people are at are similar.

Saap

I know you guys can do so much more with this. I personally thought there was a lot of creative elements to this but people seemed really tired (maybe because it was after khunde). Formations were really safe, you guys did not move much so I think you can do much more with that as well. Loved the move at 3:10, so different but hit hard. Karam good job with the energy, fun to watch you. I liked the concept of the circle breakdown but again you guys came up with so much creative stuff I wanted to see something different.

Jhumar

My favorite segment was the Kanye jhumar. Absolutely fire in all aspects. Nimit and Susmitha, great great job. Second jhumar was also nice to watch but you guys did not move a lot which is understandable (it just carried on a bit longer than I expected). Chandni you should be proud, I have honestly never seen you dance so well and you really did well in this segment. The part where you open to the audience and then do like the running skip move I was not a huge fan of, again due to differing heights.

Dhamaal

Fun segment but I believe that you should keep the integrity of dhamaal, in the sense of lifting legs very high as well. I was not a big fan of throwing the vests back only to put them back on 10 seconds later but I appreciate the creativity.

Phumaniya

I liked the way you did this. Was super energetic and bouncy (especially Akash). Energy is starting to come back even more and extensions are better but unfortunately legs are not being lifted up, more so with the girls. I know you guys can keep it up because my eyes gravitate towards the back since people are not going as hard as those who are in the front.

Jugni

People started to lose a lot of energy here and it is visible on faces. I don't know if you guys went too hard on the previous segment but even the breakdown was not impactful for me. People are starting to lose form. I feel at this part 4 lines was a way of hiding people and you could have had a more impactful jugni.

Ending

I liked the concept of having Nimit and Harshil come up, then Eric and Akash, and then Karam (and all their respective jodis). It highlighted different people on different moves, which was cool. However, for the performance that you guys put on stage with all of the energy I would have liked two lines but I really thought it was still very neat. Jumps at the end were staple, I wanted you to close with the same intensity you opened with.

Overall, extremely extremely impressed. You guys really had an impact on our team and other collegiate teams that with hard-work and creativity you can really change the game. You all should be very proud of yourselves, and my comments are not reflective of how much we enjoyed your performances live both at NDC and at Blowout. I think the biggest thing to work on is making sure everyone dances the same, and keeping energy consistent throughout. You have done a much better job with formations, so I appreciate that. Additionally, switching your jodis around was probably the best move you made this year, and I told you that in person. Priyanka and Akash make each other better, as do Nimit and Susmitha. Going 16 is not easy but you managed to pull it off and at the same time make a large impact on stage. So excited to see what you guys will do, and congrats on an extremely successful season! Going to thoroughly miss not competing against you, and this is the only time I will ever say this but... much love from Michigan.
