Hey guys! Anyone know where i can get a mostly Taali or Sheesham dhol in Lahore? I have family there that made an unexpected trip to stay in lahore for a couple days. I want preferably a straight Punjabi style dhol, Not sufi (don't like the synthetic heads and all ropes) My dad knows what to look for (he is there) and would be willing to pick it up for me. Thanks!

The only place that I remember going to in Lahore (many years back) that actually sells quality dhols (among percussion instruments like dhokis, tablas, etc) is Millat Music Palace. I believe they also sell sitars and other musical instruments.

It's located on the Northwest side of Lahore near the fort/badshahi mosque. I believe it's located in the area where Faizan suggested.

Here is their "address" and contact information from their website (http://www.millatmusicpalace.com/):

Langay mandi, Near Lahore Fort, Lahore, Pakistan

Tel: +92-42-3765 2751
Cell: +92 345 449 5307 +92 321 449 5307
Fax: +92-42-3765 2751

Email: millat.music@gmail.com

You know their legit if they got their own Facebook page ;) haha. https://www.facebook.com/MillatMusicPalace

Hope it helps,

~ Basim :)

It's really not that bad, lol, I went there a bunch of times and just hung out. It's definately is the hood though. That whole neighborhood is filled with marassi music shops, so you will find what you need there. Make sure you are super specific about the dhol. Otherwise they will just assume you want some filmi dhol without the proper work. They make amazing dhols there, but you tell them what you want.

There is a pind in Gujrat which is full of dholis. I will contact one of my buddies today and get you the address and number. I own a drum from there, highly recommend it
