Carolina Bhangra Squad at Notorious Bhangra II- Balcony + GTV

Hey BTF,
Here's the link to our balcony video from Notorious Bhangra. We placed 3rd at this comp and we'd love to hear some feedback!


This was our first performance as a team, and we had a blast. As of now, we have no idea if we'll continue to compete, but I sure hope so!


A few shoutouts:


-Huge thank you to the CBS dancers for working so hard the past few weeks to make this happen. Only a few of us have been on an independent team before and it was a great learning experience for all of us. When I decided to make this team, I wanted to design a set different from collegiate co-ed teams and push our dancers to dance a different way than most were used to. If it weren't for their trust in me, we would've never performed to the level that we did. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication, along with personal funding to travel all the way to Cali. I had so much fun dancing with all of you!


-My co-captain, Komil Desai- I had so much fun putting this set together with you. You gave me the initial push to finally make my own team and you've taught us all so much. Had a blast dancing with you, finally jodis haha. Also big thanks for working so hard on our mix with Gsimz and Iqwak. It totally paid off. Love you bro


-Gsimz- you are the freaking man. Thanks so much for putting so much time in to our set. I don't even want to know how many hours you put in, while being in school and working on other mixes. You put together the greatest mix I have ever danced to. The mix sounded amazing on stage and it gave us the energy we needed to perform. Komil and Iqwak both really pushed you and I think this is your best work yet. Keep it up and I can't wait to hear what you come up with in the future bro! Mad fun chillin last night haha


-Iqwak- thanks for your tips and advice and for the nasty ending! Was awesome to finally meet and hang out last night man! Thanks for hyping us up side-stage as well, you the man! Tuck, tuck pass.


-Props to all competing teams for putting together a set in the summer, I know how hard it gets! Love for all of you, especially Ankhiley Gabroo and Bhangra Knightz for placing! You guys were sick!


-NCSU Bhangra (Nikki/Kanwar), KPGD (Sumeet), Duke Dhamaka (Aman), VT Bhangra, and UNC Bhangra Elite for helping me put together the vardi for this comp. They looked awesome!


-All the NC and VA teams for all the support and love this summer, you guys are a huge part of our success! Wish you could've been in Cali with us!

-Baljot Gill for tying our paggan before even starting his own teams! Big thanks bro! Also to Sumit Hira for helping out too!

I really like collaborations; it was great to see so many good dancers on the same team. Shutout to Kuntal for putting the team together. Shout out to my JJ Jodi Komil. Enjoyable set. Hope to see more.

Fun set, clearly a team of skilled dancers and looks like you guys had a blast doing it. How many of you are UNC alums? I ask because there's already a pretty uniform style here among many of the dancers, and it reminds me a lot of the 2012 EE performance in a weird way.

Nothing i appreciate more in bhangra than uniqueness, and you guys deff brought it. The effort for unique formations showed throughout the set, but at many times the formations were just unclear and therefor looked messy. All dancers looked sick individually, but together there was deff a lack of uniformity, and this probably has to do with lack of practice, which is understandable. Also, i REALLY wish you guys found a better way to make the khunde gimmick hit harder, SO much potential, but you guys kept it a little too simple. Song selection was FANTASTIC for the most part. Overall, enjoy'd your set! Please keep dancing, this was refreshing

yellow guy's jhummar was out of this world haha replayed that segment several times just to watch him, great song choice too


overall very refreshing routine and performance to watch, its so great to see uniqueness and creativity when it comes to co-ed teams; intro was a little sloppy but i loved the creativity in formations, absolutely loved the saaps segment and daangs gimmick was amazing and has so much potential! watch the levels at which people are holding daangs though, there was a great deal of variability there. absolutely LOVED the formation at 3:07, dhamaal/jugni segment was very JJ-esque haha but definitely my favorite part of the routine


PLEASE post the mix, it is too good to not hear in HQ congrats again on the placing but more than that on a very creative, refreshing and fun to watch performance!

Komil, you suck and I hate you. It's not fair that you get to keep dancing. Haha for real though, this was a great set, definitely my favorite one to come out of Carolina. There was some very strong dancing and the set had nice flow and formations. The only thing I didn't like was the little khunda trick, it was unnecessary and honestly took away from the performance. The rest of it was so good and that trick was the only thing that made me question anything in your performance. From experience, I've seen that the only tricks worth doing are those that you can guarantee will be hit 100% of the time and this seemed to backfire on you guys. Otherwise, loved the choreo, loved the mix, loved the slight JJness of it. Sick job, I've never seen better dancing come out of North Carolina.

Love this team!

Kuntal - amazing job with this team man. You really got the group whipped into shape.

Jiggly Jindal - How you manage to keep that much energy when your in med school and old like me is amazing. Sick performance.

UNC people - Ekta/Raj/Akash/Bianca/Priya -- Great performances!

Loved the song selection on top of the performance. Some of my favorites in here. Unfortunate the khunde gimmick didn't hit, but I really appreciated the effort into the step to stand out. Favorite part is right after dhamaal -> don't see too many Coed teams with that approach to choreography that execute.

So mad I didn't get to watch this one live, great set from top to bottom. Loved that you guys kept moving and using formations to make the routine more dynamic and eye-catching. Jugni was my absolute favorite part though, such a unique and well-executed drop. I know I told you guys this already but the improvement from the first practice video I saw of you guys to what you did on stage was really impressive. Congrats on third place, and I'm looking forward to kicking it with you guys at the next comp!

I knew from the inception of the idea of this team that it would change the game. I saw how hard you guys worked through viewing the constant barrage of individual videos, and saw the struggles associated with the style shift. Watching this video is the culmination of all of that hard work and effort - those videos recorded in hotel rooms and the in sand and in basements and living rooms were well worth it.

The routine was refreshing, creative, and entertaining. Every single dancer shined especially bright at some point in the routine. When I have time, I'm going to find those spots and post them. Off the top of my head though, Sumeet and Bianca absolutely slaughtered that general song before the end when they were in the front. Everyone did a superb job with the props segments.
