Before I write a long post about tying the chaadre, have you pinned the middle together?

Hi sikhunit34,

I believe the best way to help you would be to show you, but since that's not possible and writing it all out here would be difficult to describe, these videos might be the best methods to follow:

sobTV - Episode 2 - How To Tie A Chaadra

Chadra Tying

Similar to tying a pagg, tying the chadra properly is gonna take a bit of practice, but it shouldn't be too difficult once you get the basics down.

I use the same basic method that's shown in the video above, but when I'm scrunching up the fabric, I have the dancer sit in a jugni position, usually as low as they will get during the performance. Once the material is scrunched up, make 2 clockwise turns with the ties and have the dancer hold them so that you can move to the front and adjust it so that it isn't too low or too high. Only after all the adjustments have been made can the dancer get back up, and then you finish tying the knots. When you're pinning the chadra, have the dancer take a dhamaal pose, just pin it wherever the chadra begins to open up.

This is same way I tie them too (and how I've seen most teams do it). Tried and tested!
