Competition and Alcohol ?

The "love" of bhangra died out a LONG time ago.. That's why we have COMPETITIONS and not charity shows. Competitions are all about being the best, being cocky, getting shitfaced, and starting shit. If you don't have alcohol during the competition weekend, all hell would break loose.

Bhangra in the Heights was a charity show/exhibition this past Winter w/o alcohol! woohoo!

...but you're right...some drunk people showed up and ruined it for everyone else at about 1 am.

Bro Bhangra In The Heights was awesome! I had a blast, but I drank before coming so I guess that's what made it more enjoyable haha. It was such a chill show, it felt more like a party. Can't wait for the next one!

from my experience, the best way to get home when youre intoxicated at any level is to stand outside of a restaurant that delivers, call in an order and have it going to your place, then when the delivery boy jumps out to deliver it offer him a few extra dollars on the tip to take your ass home too.

you get food and a ride home. killing 2 big ass birds with 1 stone.

govind is right about promoting responsibility rather than prohibition. most young people are gonna drink and screw and rather than sit in their hotel rooms and play monopoly.

on tangential note, hooking up is definitley part of punjabi culture. gabroos and mutiyaaran have been doing stuff under the peepal trees of pinds foreva. heer ranjha, mirza sahiba, sohni mahiwal wouldnt be famous if they werent

ok so guys i think i read enough in like 3 pages and so far this point hasnt been brought up and to be honest i donnt feel like reading the remaining 4 pages LOL


ok so everyone's saying one thing over and over again - "Don't let alcohol into the hands of minors under 21"
someone suggested that there be a seperate area at the hotel where people over 21 can be given bands and can socialise and drink
well thats what the bar at the hotel does - the id and sell their stuff cuz only allowing people over 21 would limit everyone else from socialising with them and if i'm not mistaken it's also about meeting people and socialising and having a good time while your at the competition.


next point 21 is legal age in the US what about teams that come from Canada? they're accustommed to drinking or well buying liquor the day they hit 19. so technically they legal age to them? so what is legal age? legal age in india's 25 you dont see anyone really focussing on that matter.


and next thing up - i dont think many people realise this but the law is that you can not buy liquor under 21 and you cannot buy it for a random minor. If you are somehow actually know the person you can provide liquor for them regardless of age. Minors can drink all they want at home or anywhere in a controlled environment. Thats why you dont see bartenders ID anyone at a wedding reception because its a controlled environment and not a random bar that sells alchohol. You're there because you know the people.
So the committee providing alchohol seems perfectly fine with me. Just because they're giving it to you doesnt mean they're putting it to your lips


and as someone else said bhangra kinda goes hand in hand with alcohol and girls alot - idk if you guys realise how many songs are about those two things and especially how many of those are used in competitions.


Btw those of you against the whole "hooking up" deal - u might wanna stop listening to Kannian by Geeta Zaildar too but i doubt thats gonna happen and if you dont know what im talking about go listen to the lyrics carefully next time.
