Seriously man, NYC has established itself as a good region for bhangra. aeg.virsa.smd. cu.nyu.

there just is a lack of organized support for bhangra, it's just too fragmented.
YEAH NYC! :D

However, I'm pretty sure B-Heights, although not a competition, will be happening in the fall. Something to look forward to, I guess.

NYC is probably just really expensive in terms of venues, and etc.
also very little fan base aside from teams because people would rather go to the afterparty than the show, and also if their gonna spend 30-40$ on the afterparty they wouldnt want to spend another 20 or so on the show

You guys should make that into a competition man, its well organized, teams are there, just need to find a bigger venue and a lot of security (nypd). Make it happen!

If organizers are willing to take a loss and you can get community support from businesses, then it would happen. But you need bank for that cause it's NYC.

Envy, there were "minor" hotel issues! hahaha Hopefully it will fall together but as of right now, can't confirm anything! It was good seeing newer legit comps in Cali this season though...life goes on! :)

Yea - I always thought CU/NYU should do a competition throwing collabo. Sometimes as a University you have easier access to venues and such...

NYC (Manhattan really) is such a sick place for a competition but yea the expenses are ridiculous...

And I think the fan base would be large just like any other competition actually...if you market it well (and having families of College students come is a plus) you can get tons of people to come...

Make bhangra in the heights into a competition, you might as well.

Agreed... quite honestly all you NEED to add are a few judges and an award ceremony/prize money. Obviously this would just help meet the bare minimum requirements of a "competition", but any additional costs (mixer, guest performance, bigger venue, etc.) would just help the event grow.

They didn't pay Three Rivers, Punjabi Soormay, or VCU for placing. Zee TV was the biggest scam ever

there was a thread a while discussing the possibilities of holding a comp in nyc. basically it came down to $$. Zee bhangra was def a scam, BUT they were/are probably one of the only legitimate organizations to have the funds/resources to hold a solid comp in the city. Bhangra in the heights could easily turn into a comp, but like aman said, you would only meet the bare essentials by adding a few more things, while the rest of the quality of the comp, is again, dependent on money.
