Hello BTF!
My name is Masoom Chainani and I served as a Co-Captain with Kadambari Suri for Cornell Bhangra this year. This year was our first (and unfortunately our only) year acting as captains for this team; it has become one of our most memorable experiences ever. We went to three competitions this year: Tashan, Got Bhangra, and Big 10 Bhangra.
Tashan 2016: This competition provided quite the learning curve for us - this competition could've have been very stressful for everyone, but shoutouts to Keshav and Amber for helping us out in anyway that they could! Congrats to UNC Bhangra Elite and VT Bhangra for 1st and 2nd placing respectively! Also, shoutouts to our dancers on stage who knew to always keep dancing, no matter what #wheredthemusicgo
Got Bhangra 2016: This was Got Bhangra's first year running and I must say, the E-Board running this comp was ON POINT. Shoutouts to Kushali, Shaolin, and Krish for EVERYTHING that weekend! Definitely helped out a bunch when tech time got a little off track (LOL). Congrats to FCB, AEG, and CMU for placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively! Again, shoutouts to our dancers for really pulling through and cooperating with us through all the ups and downs of the weekend!
Big 10 Bhangra: Also another competition first year running and huge congrats to Abhishek and Riya for an AMAZING first year. SICK lineup and fantastic performances from everyone - pretty sure everyone is gonna be talking about that SPD performance for, like, years to come. Honestly, it was a great competition to come and watch but we really appreciated the opportunity to perform alongside such great teams. Congrats to SPD, FCB, and Buckeye for their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placings respectively!
Overall, we tried to do three things this year: we put A LOT of new people on stage, we tried some new and different things on stage (some which worked and some which didn't) than our team usually does, and we had a lot of fun (check out our Instagram lol). We just wanted to say thank you to everyone that was more than willing to give us advice as well as our team that supported us through the entirety of this year.

P.S. Also, irrelevant to this post, but everyone should come to Pao. It's literally the best bhangra weekend you will ever have in Ithaca. #cometopao #chakdecornell
