What's up everyone!

Cornell had a great time competing at BIB this weekend - will definitely post a review and a proper video as soon as possible. In the mean time, check out our mix for this semester! Worked hard on this mix, all in-house, with the help of my boys Taisu Kumar and Armaan Kapoor. As always thank you to our supporters and friends always giving us advice on how to improve both our mixes and sets, including Kartik, Pavan, Sharm, and many more.

Much Love & Enjoy =)

I have witnessed this first hand. The number of hours spent finding tracks, procrastinating on school work, equalizing, (insert other fancy mixing words here), is just incredible. All this on top of choreographing and leading practices everyday. This mix is a clear indicator of your hard work. Goddamn I miss those mickey mouse looking headphones. :)

haha I miss hearing "sade dil nu bathera dukh lageya. sade dil nu....." in the beginning.

Sick job, Anik. I especially like "Mere Piya" and PropheC song segment. Can't wait for the video 8)

Edit: never mind haha, that song is still in the intro. I guess I missed when I first listened to the mix.

Our informal and super scientific analysis (i.e. counting while listening to mix in the car):
62 doppler whooshes
8 music cutouts

I just couldn't get into it, the doppler whooshes were comically used and the music cutouts killed a lot of pacing.

But that doesn't matter, listening live the whooshes matter very little because of the acoustics of a venue. The real issue is the how the cutouts affected the choreo.

In my opinion, the Cornell set was very stop-go and even live we kept commenting how they would cut the music or just stop dancing for a beat and then start a new segment. That really affected pacing and interest in it dropped a bit. Something like that doesn't show up in a rubric but it does matter for an audience watching live.

just some thoughts, ultimately the only things tha matter in a mix is how it affects/complements the dancing. So while I find the whooshes obnoxiously used, it doesn't matter much in the long run. The bigger issue would be cutting out the mix constantly and stopping your choreo over and over.

Just wanted to address a few things:

1) I know there a lot of doppler wooshes (I was going to count one day for fun but Swi beat me...only 62!) haha - We use the sound effect to complement our choreo and formations and I've noticed in past performances that it helps the audience feel it more as well as my own dancers. In addition, I'm aware that when listening to the mix alone that the wooshes sound like a lot, but in venues it's something that's not noticed (in my personal experience).

2) Swi I'm definitely interested about the cutouts and how it impacted our performance. I didn't feel like we were too stop and go, and felt that our choreo was pretty constant, we had almost no stops in our choreo or performance - I'll hit you up soon to discuss, would appreciate your critique as always!

3) Thank to everyone for your support, whether it is through praise or through critique, it all helps me and my team to work hard and improve.

Agree with some of the comments above.

I thought it was unique how you began the mix with last years beginning but then lead it into something completely different. That caught my ears since I was expecting the "rewind select thing" lol.

This is not a bhangra mix all i can hear is western music ..i am sorry if anyone feel bad but its my point of view.. where is dhol songs? Just adding punjabi songs into mix doesnt make your mix as a bhangra one.. NYPD SGPD are teams which is fully into bhangra mixes.
