First of all, apologies for the drunk thread in Off-Topic. It was an in-the-moment kind-of thing.
Just got back to Cleveland. It was great meeting/chilling/drinking with Panic, Navkarn, Kanvar, Hasit, Jaskaran, the guys on JATT, Texas Bhangra... the list continues.
In terms of competition organization, CSUN, as Vikash mentioned, was a mess. The dress rehearsal started
incredibly late, which is absolutely unfair. If a TEAM is late for a dress rehearsal,
you SKIP OVER THEM. You do not move everyone back. Why? Because the teams who then have a really late dress rehearsal are then told that they have 1.5 hours to get ready and get to the bus. The teams who have dress rehearsal first still have plenty of time. Absolutely ridiculous.
Then competition organizers tell us that they're going to pick us up in cars. Hell no if we're wearing paghs. And since we got out of the competition late, we miss the bus anyways. We're about to drive to the competition in our cars, but we're told that a bus is coming back for us. 25 minutes later, we call back and the bus has yet to leave. We say fuck it and drive ourselves (which we should have done anyways). (One of the guys from JATT drove a few of our guys too. Thanks!) We get there and it's already 3rd act. NICE! Getting paghs/turlas on in one dressing room and then being told that we're being kicked out because Raghav needs the room. lol
As said before, we weren't able to watch the other teams. A live-feed in the back would have been kickass. (I will add that to the Competition Analyzing Rubric. Competitions who do that should get extra points). I know for sure that our Truskool performance was messy as fuck. In terms of judging, I think one of the bigger problems was that if a co-ed team was to place, it should have been People (or maybe RP). I didn't see those performances, but from what I heard, Texas had very little traditional elements (but still got 99/100 from one judge). People also had a bomb mix (MAD Props Hasit!). JATT from watching the video with Jaskaran afterwards was really clean. The APD/JATT/Knight placing definitely seemed legit.
Didn't go to the afterparty. Heard that no one went to the afterparty. And thanks to Raman for giving me an opportunity to chill with the guys from JATT who took me in after finding me passed out on a patio table and showed me a hella fun time.
And a correction to an earlier post.
