*** CTL Update- Edit feature now live, add info!!***

I just don't have enough time to run things on my own, so I added a link to the CTL edit feature to the main page so teams and comps can update their info. Previously it was public but I didn't post a link anywhere, I had hoped someone would step up and fill in data but after a day or two it basically died.


So here's how it works:

• 4 tables (Competition Info, Results, Team Info, Performances)
• If you want to be listed under a comp, you MUST add the team+comp info in the performances table. Adding a placing is not enough, the performances table is how we keep track.
• Competitions can add registration information for their comp (it's part of the 'results' table)
• Does not currently support ties as an input, I will handle this situation manually myself, just shoot an email
• The old feedback form is not being monitored, however I may try to link it so it directly updates the database (it may be a cleaner/easier way for new entries)

I'm leaving it up to you guys now to keep it up to date. I can't run every little thing manually anymore, especially when I get so little help (though I have tried to be open and public and change that). So for now we put our faith in the crowd, and hope it's enough.

the CTL interprets entered dates in the European way. that's totally fine, but there's no indication anywhere (certainly not on the edit forms) that this is the case.


i.e., 10-7-2012, if entered thusly, is July 10th, 2012, not October 7th, 2012.


maybe add a small blurb as a headsup?

I see a lot of activity on the CTL recently which is great. Obviously we're still not at a level where updates are happening consistently, but it's been getting better and I'll do my best to pick up the slack. Please, if you're on a competition committee or on a team, check in periodically and make sure your competition/team info is accurate and your participation is listed. I have heard of teams getting contacted for gigs/events based on the CTL, so it's good to have your info correct.



Also, please note that since the beginning, the CTL has been exclusively for competitions that have a separate bhangra category and at least 3 teams competing in that category. This was initially to ensure that the CTL wasn't filled with smaller competitions, and mixed competitions. I understand teams would like to include all their activity, but frankly it's silly to list a comp and only have a second place team because 1st and 3rd were non-bhangra. Let's stick to these rules:


1. Competition has to have a separate bhangra category
2. There must be at least three teams competing in that Bhangra category

Why don't you let organizers update their information for their upcoming competitions as well? This way you don't need to update that information either. If organizers want to update, great, if they don't, their info gets skipped, or you someone else can put it in for them. That might be a great way to let some of your work go to others.

Hey rohit can you elaborate? You can add upcoming comps, but I'm assuming you mean a page of info for each individual competition as well as the overall competition info. I think that would be a good addition as well, so we can collect info. I really just want to redo the whole thing since it's been 3 years, and so I haven't put effort into updating it. I'll look into it next couple weeks and maybe get something up fast
