Hi guys,

Im visiting punjab for the first time since i was a little kid (15 years ago) im 25 now.

I want some suggestions of some of the things i should do out there.

I want to see all the sites like Anandpur sahib but also experience all the cultural desi things like riding a bullet lol.

Please post your suggestions.

1. Eat FRESH gurh (jaggery) straight from a kamaat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg0cmfjlR6M). This stuff is addicting, so go easy. I feign for it, and everything else pales in comparison.
2. Try to get your hands on a Yaahma.
3. Safely run a red light and when caught, bribe the traffic police ($$ or alcohol, both work).
4. Gamble with baante (marbles).
5. Go to a mela.

Anandpur Sahib is soooo beautiful, and Golden temple must be peaceful around this time too !!
Gurudwara taran taran sahib is also very beautiful !!

There's a restaurant Haveli on jalandhar phagwara highway!! Good food, amazing ambience, and there were guys doing bhangra on its terrace at night time when we went!!
u can go to wagah border eve. ceremony if u want, but it was way too crowded when we went..ehhh
Train rides are soooooooooooooo much fun - shatabdi express!! the snacks (chana chaat/bread pakoras) are really good depending on ur tolerance of street food.
There's "puran singh da dhaba" on GT road which has mutton curry and dal makhani to die for, but there are 9 other restaurants with the same name & all of em right next to each other. dont ask which one is real.. LOL!

This place is awesome. Alongside the ambience and bhangra and giddha, they also give you a massive plate of food (makki di roti, sarso da saag, some type of daal, dahi, etc) for 250 rupees (at least that is what it was when I went). Amazing experience.

stay in a pind for a while, eat food made on a chula, let your body enjoy a natural cycle, going to sleep when the sun goes down and its pitch black outside cuz of no light pollution, see how good it feels to wake up at 6 in the morning and feeling completely refreshed, take a bath with a baalti, or take a bath on a motor in the khet if no one is around, if your family has khet just take some time to go walking through em, eat fresh off the tree amrut(guava), ride on a gudda(ox pulled cart), choop some gannay, most importantly, listen to stories just sit with sianay and hear their stories.
