Dhol wood differences?

Could someone explain the differences between kachi taali, kachi-pakki taali, pakki-kachi and pakki taali dhols?

And could you list which is the the least best wood to the best wood from least greatest to greatest form, and possibly show me pics

Kachi taali(chitti taali)(Raw sheesham)
Kachi pakki taali(chitti kaali taali)(Raw/Ripe Sheesham)(more kachi, less pakki)
Pakki kachi taali(kaali chitti taali)(Ripe/Raw Sheesham)(more pakki, less kachi)
Pakki taali(kaali taali)(Ripe Sheesham)


Legends:
Taali - Sheesham
Kachi - Chitti - Raw - pale brownish white
Pakki - Kaali - Ripe - dark brown

Taali is considered the best and most people know of black Taali but there is also Red Taali.


The difference i think are down to the maturity of the tree but i could be wrong, I would have thought a dark kaali taali dhol came from a resonably old tree



The dhol barrel shape also affects how it will sound.


Taali is become rare and hence prices going up and up

Dark taali(golden to dark brown) comes from heartwood(which is inner wood) & Light taali(white to pale brownish white) comes from sapwood(which is outer wood)

kali taali & lal taali are the same. kali taali is just lal taali with masala on it to make it darker.

dhol quality depends more on the specific shell than the type of wood
