Diamond Club has hosted a Mela every year since 2001, but hosted it's first Bhangra Competition in 2009. It is the largest family Mela in Northern California with over 5000 attendees!
Competitions are usually in May

But if a real 10 or 12 team comp is coming to Sacramento. This is awesome.

Which kinda may suck if the stage is hot as hell, since it is outdoors, and teams are obviously going to be dancing barefoot.

I've personally seen the amount of work the Diamond Club of California has put into its events. I feel they have a great amount of people in the committee as well as, a number of possible resources to throw a fantastic competition, like those such as Bhangra Masti, Bhangra Idols (Explosion/Surreys best), Bhangra in the Burgh, and even Bruin.

Have you guys had any thoughts of doing an evening competition like that at any point in time? Downtown sacramento has many great venues that could be used, from the crest theatre to the sacramento community center theatre, and also the memorial auditorium.

The stage is shaded, consequently not hot so all performers will be in good hands. Trust me on this one, I've performed Giddha at the Chhankata numerous times.

When Diamond Club of California Sacramento originated in 2001 we had our first Chhankata at the Crest Theater, but due to a large attendance we had to move to the our event to a larger venue the Sacramento Community Center. However again due to popular demand, we have to make our Chhankata outdoors to Cal Expo to accommodate it's large number of attendees.

this event was SOOO un organized last year!
it started rainning and they had the audience still sit outside and the stage got all wet...and..they screwed up everyones CDs -___- they dropped cds in the rain and the mixes ended up getting slowed down to the max!

Im not talking about a mela man, but a legit 10-12 team competition. Mixer, Competition, Afterparty (the works).
