Meistro, Ive had your same concerns. Its hard for them because they are participate in the conversations and also have to moderate it. But I agree you guys gotta be more comprehensive with your moderation. But overall you guys are doing a good job.
Turbo,
See people like Faizan man, they dont see that side of the story. They think that every single solidier is in Iraq is killing innocents, torturing the locals and hates muslims/ all Iraqis. I have met soliders in my life who have said they oppose the war. However, they are doing what they are told is best for the country> Dont get shit twisted, the troops are acting people who used to rape, and torture the locals. There was a story of a young boy that was set on fire and he moved and was embraced by some americans and now is a permanent resident in America attending school (i believe the story was on CNN)...
Alot of these solidiers are good decent human beings. They perform a gruesome task but wish they never had to do it. The 4000 young men and women who were killed, and the numerous thousand that were injuried, I would argue the majority dont wish harm upon innocents of that country. My friend who lost his life, his family is bitter towards the american government but not towards the people of that country.
Regarding Faizan, in my opinion (this shouldnt be moderatored because Im putting this as nicely as possible) he thinks his statement is somehow enpowering to his muslim identity. Its SO incredibly sad because he spits on the face of the progressive young american muslims who try to shake that negative perception that he is putting forth.... The perception that muslims are unsympathetic to the erradiction of certain movements just because those movements have a muslim backing...
A lot of young muslims feel like the blame should be on the puppet masters not the puppets. If I dont agree with 9/11, or the 7/7 atttacks, or any other ones, how "enpowering" would it be for me to walk around and say "fuck the saudis, fuck the pakistanis, fuck the iranians, fuck the afghanis"... Faizan is playing to the ignorance that drives and seperates the world... He is as guilty as the bushes, the cheaneys, and those of the world who believe degrading is the way to go...
He doesnt want to "debate". Im sure if he would leave his house and yell it, nobody else would want to debate with him either. Also, from what others what told me about this guy my 7 year old patijaa could have him retract his statement as well (hes not "rebel" he wants others to think he is)
