Does Anyone know if vardiyan colors represent something ?

Some teams use it as a number jodi. Red is usually considered as first jodi.

On the P.A.U circuit, and traditional teams in india - Red/pink is usually reserved for the best jodi. Its like captains Jersey!

Best dancer isn't necessarily always the captain, even on india teams the captains aren't always red or even pehli jodi as far as I'm aware. But the best dancers on the team usually are indeed red or the colour that stands out the most like an organge. Unless you're doing live though it doesn't really matter to be honest and even then there is no reason why you should have to stick to those rules.

Hahah! +1 but yeah I always thought the red jori was usually the overall best dancers, yellow was grace, lol never really knew what they stood for. I'm guessing that red is probably the only color that has true meaning to it. Rest are just there haha

Yes, because red arguably looks best on stage (not too bright, not too dark) and catches the eye the most. this is why it is generally worn by the best dancers (1st jori) (let's be real, usually all the dancers on a good India team are first jori material haha)

[SIZE=small]I definitely still think this goes on. I'm not sure how red became associated with the top jodi (India?), but now the top jodi wants to be red just because that is the marking of being the top jodi. Think of it like the #10 on a soccer team or a captain's band. The color doesn't actually have any extra relevance, but people think it has some extra relevance because they assign extra relevance to it. It kinda reinforces itself now. Honestly, I find it to be pretty stupid though. We all know purple is definitely the best color[/SIZE]

In the past CMU has differentiated colors by jori, with pink being first, blue being second, and purple or green being third. This year we stopped doing that and everyone is kinda getting to wear what they want.


I know other collegiate teams have used colors to represent joris as well. Red, pink, and even yellow are used most often to represent first jori. However a lot of collegiate teams are going 6 colors now

I personally believe there are rankings associated with colors, but not all collegiate teams do it. I mean Texas Bhangra for instance mad respect to yall for going with one color! I know our team didn't do it, we just went with our favorite color and just matched jodis like that. I'm am not sure if other Big name teams do it like VCU, JJ, PCBCA, FAUJ, BK, CAL, UVA etc..., but it definitely shows that the Pehli Jodi's (Red) were the best on those teams.
