This used to be called elite 8.
I hope some organizers see this and actually take it into consideration. Elite 8 displays a very strong lineup but those teams are still chosen by the committee. The suggestion Harman made about everyone voting on which teams they wanna see competing against each other would be awesome, as it would be completely up to the Bhangra community to decide. Harman, let's bring this comp to Tdot
haha yea, it's a shame that many teams don't get to experience toronto during the summer time when its live. A comp like this in tdot on a sunny june weekend would be pretty legit. I hope these ideas inspire an organizer to create something new, something the people want.

I liked the way the voting was done for the mixing ladder. Gather as many teams as you can that are interested in this competition, have them apply filling out whatever forms that are necessary. Create a new thread with all the teams listed and rather then clicking an option in a poll, you post your vote (in this case, your most wanted 8 teams out of XX amount of teams that applied) in the thread and someone just tallies them up after the deadline. The 8 teams that were voted for the most are invited. Enforce a policy that you have to have XX amounts of posts or XXX join date to be eligible to vote, that' would effectively remove any friend votes, duplicate votes and any other behind the scene cheating as everything will be face up for everyone to see. This is a lot more efficient and accurate than facebook polling or any other form of polling, where it just becomes a popularity contest.
In my opinion, there should be more than 8 teams, especially if you have quality teams applying. Cut the sets down to 5 or 6 minutes, that way you get nothing but sheer entertainment and none of those filler sets which bore everybody. Also, dancers won't have to worry about allocating their limited energy throughout the routine, I understand bhangra is a test of stamina, but at the cost of entertainment and quality dancing? I'd rather see 6 minutes of all out than 9 minutes of holding back. Imagine how insane the sets would be if sets were that short.
