I really am curious as to who'll get the other spot cause I thought for sure the 2 would be SMD and VCU and IMO, SMD deserves the other spot at this point -- in terms of progress, they have come so far -- after seeing them live at Fever I, Fever II, and then BAB, the extent to which they've progressed is insane.

not gonna lie -- I'd be suspicious if smd didnt be the 2nd pick -- and if your saying that you heard the lineup and they're not in it -- thats some serious BS...they've definitely progressed an INSANE amount.

In the last year (from 12 months ago since now), Virsa has only competed at 3 competitions, but brought home trophies from all three: Allstars (1st), Bayside (2nd) and Masti (3rd).


They are a great team, having competed at 15 competitions (with collaborations with other teams included) with a total of 10 trophies, but I am a bit surprised at this selection. I guess it's clear that EMDO and I have separate definitions of the term "elite".


Congratulations, Virsa! I look forward to cheering for you guys at Elite 8! Win it for NYC!!

Maybe it's beyond what the team does on the stage or its track record for placements and wins at the competition. We can see that with Empire last year, it was an automatic bid because of the outreach it had and the fact that the team made Bhangra BLOWUP.

Last year Duniya and LBC hardly ever competed, did not place anywhere (I think) but were still selected. Also, I would not consider Empire to be anywhere near the level of the elite teams in dancing ability (and were clearly outmatched in every regard at Elite 8 ), they were more so selected on influence.

I assume VCU (who has placed quite a bit and won Elite 8 last year) will be the second US East spot.

Not putting down Virsa's placings, but I would have picked SMD over Virsa as well. They have an impressive record and have performed and placed across the US and Canada.

it will be VCU, they placed last year and have placed at every comp save BDM this year. Nay, they've WON every comp theyve been to. SMD just got shafted a bit in my opinion. None the less, VIRSA would have been my personal number 3 choice, and I'm equally glad we have these fellahs holding it down for US East. Congrats guys!
