Yeah.GavinJ. said:wow... abc got shafted again in my mind.
Who is hating on ABC?LTB said:it dont matter about who got more trophies or what. abc got shafted! id like to see empire or apd go against sgpd and place right behind em. no offense to empire or apd but ive never seen bhangra like that. lol they need to learn how the fundamentals of real bhangra.. like fixing there jugni asap or there jhummer. hate all you want on abc, but there doing big things and they dance waaaaaaaayyyy better then apd and empire.. lol
Following up to Avneet's comment about Empire sticking to it's niche, that's exactly right. We do it because we enjoy it and it works for us. Nearly half of the active Empire roster consists of dancers that have danced on traditional or "live" teams like Virsa de Waris, Davis di Dynasty, teams in India, etc. Just keep that in mind LTB for the next time you make ignorant comments like "they need to learn the fundamentals of real bhangra."Avneet said:Who is hating on ABC?LTB said:it dont matter about who got more trophies or what. abc got shafted! id like to see empire or apd go against sgpd and place right behind em. no offense to empire or apd but ive never seen bhangra like that. lol they need to learn how the fundamentals of real bhangra.. like fixing there jugni asap or there jhummer. hate all you want on abc, but there doing big things and they dance waaaaaaaayyyy better then apd and empire.. lol
Anyway, I no longer dance for Empire so by no means is this response in defense of anything or anyone. But this whole argument of "that's not real Bhangra"... "I've never seen that type of 'bhangra' "... "They're lacking folk aspects" etc. etc. is tired. They do not have a folk style because THEY DON'T WANT TO. Nor do they aspire to ever be more like a traditional team. They found a perfect niche in the bhangra scene and they're sticking to it... and guess what?? It's worked for them.
There are plenty of great teams from ALL over NA but only two teams get a spot from their region. A handful of teams were in a sense "shafted" but there's always next year. Everyone just needs to have a better spirit about it.
Hi Sumeet, nice to meet you! Isn't the rubric for elite more traditional than not? I think it's more important to spread the culture and perform for the audience, no matter what the rubric.sumeetj said:... if they went somewhere where traditionality was a bigger part of the rubric and move execution done in a traditional way, im sure their style wouldnt be able to hold down. however, for every other competition, im pretty sure they get like 100% of all the other points, which in the end, wins...

I think that everyone on btf or who has performed can relate, as it is the one common theme that binds all of us together as a community, right?faizan said:vah, mazza agaya... I think it's more important to spread the culture and perform for the audience, no matter what the rubric.
