Elite 8 Bhangra Invitational 2012: Update

I think Cal Bhangra definitely deserves it. They were definitely an underdog team that came up this year and placed at almost every comp. In the past couple years, they worked hard to fix minor issues that separated them from placing at all, but they've shown that they can hit the momentum which other "elite" (see what I did there heh ) teams have reached.

They definitely are an underdog team but teams at E8 are gonna be going 16-18 ppl, Cal would have to get alot of new dancers

You mean 16 OR 18, because I highly doubt anyone is bringing out 17 dancers; and unless I'm mistaken, I don't think a team has ever used an 18 set. And looking at the invitees would you care to name which ones you think are bringing out a 16 set? Cause I'm pretty sure UNC, SMD, and BK aren't going to dance with more than 12, and I don't think JJ has ever hit a set with more than 12 either (though that may change, who knows). Btw Im not trying to bash so don't take me wrong. Hitting a clean performance with more than 12 has always been impressive, but having more people on stage doesn't correlate to winning competitions. Don't forget that VCU won with 12 against teams with 16 at the first elite 8.

Just by watching performances like at Nachda showed me the true potential of what this team is really about (as I'm sure there are teams as capable as well, but Cal just being one that really stuck out to me) Quantity if anything seems to be a minor issue (if thats an issue at all). My point being that because these other canadian teams dropped out, teams like Cal Bhangra, those that really upped their game deserve a spot at Elite 8 to go up against some of the strongest in the circuit. I think they have shown that they have the ability to be what a competitive Bhangra team is really about. Just my opinion though. Good luck to all the teams.

If Elite 8 is the All-Star Game, Cal Bhangra would be playing in the rookie-sophomore challenge. We still have a ways to go guys. Like Mariam said, it takes more than a few trophies and good performances to be elite

I agree. First of all I would like to apologize on behalf of Cal Bhangra for any exaggerated remarks that were made. We are defintely improving but are in no means elite. We appreciate all of the love and we look forward to more constructive criticism.

Hats off to cal bhangra for being humble throughout this, but in my opinion they're the best coed team from US west and CANADA west. They should've been invited to elite 8

Hats off to cal bhangra for being humble throughout this, but in my opinion they're the best coed team from US west and CANADA west. They should've been invited to elite 8
