come on people, lets hear who's gonna take the remaining spots. My guesses:

Canada West:Panj and Jawani
Canada East: NJ and SGPD
US East: VCU and cant decide on this spot. Def toss up, but maybe RU?
US West: Bhangra Empire and can't decide this second spot either lol but I'd say DRP, Sher, or HPD

Haha what people have said is true, this song is HYPE and its creating an even bigger hype for this comp. Like an "ultimate stage" type feeling.

Also alot of teams people are naming have had a couple of unrreal performances but if its really the elite i hope they give it to teams that have shown they can do it over, and over again. Not to knock any newer teams like jawani warriors n abc. They are killing it. but if there are teams with streaks and consistencies of more than a single season, i think it would define elite better.

which brings me back to what jeeti n myself were curious about from INvite 1. WHATS the criteria here???

Shouldnt they be doing this to the DC Metro area? I feel like most of us are gonna go to these comps if the lineup is good. If i see a lineup like panj/vcu/sgpd/nypd/lmfao/aeiou sometimes y/etc im gonna go watch it. creating all this hype on btf is cool, but its like advertising Extra Strength Mayo on a FatPeople forum, you're being redundant! If they did this sort of stuff on the local TV feed or something, maybe that would help sell more tix? I dunno maybe im just trippin

agreed. also, i love how ppl are predicting these insaneeee lineups when we all know teams drop out of comps like its their biznass. i still have hope for the lineup to be sick, but ill be really surprised if every team that gets an invite is actually able to compete. maybe the hype alone of this comp will ensure that, but we'll have to see.

I would assume that they ask the team before they announce it.

I think we're still too far out to book TV ads. You normally have a full lineup + artist + afterparty solidified, then drop the $$ on that

Agreed. But for a different reason. For the general public in DC, what's a PANJ? Why is VCU so good? What is this bhangra? Is this Indian culture? The hype would be lost to people not well-informed about bhangra. Even people who use to be on bhangra teams back in the day will not know names like PANJ, SGPD, NJ..etc. It may be redundant, but we, on this forum, know how legit this line-up will be.

A TV commercial, even on an Indian channel (which limits the publicity the competition gets), may require some degree of education or at least clips of the teams at their awesomeness. And at that point, Saleem's concern about cost may become a biggest reason to skip out on it.

Saleem I see where you're going with that, TV ads for bhangra comps (especially for a first-time comp that may have low margins) isnt a smart idea. But what good does overloading the hype on a bhangra forum do? Maybe the general public (as Kinnell pointed out) doesn't know about VCU/PANJ/etc, but i think a good amount of people come to comps just to watch bhangra performances. Sure, itd help them to know ok these teams are the best in the biz so this is gonna be a crazy comp. I wonder if theres a way we can do a comp kinda like how they got Paranormal Activity playing in theaters, through voting on a website
