ELITE 8 FINAL SCORES/STANDINGS

I think this is being blown up a little too much now. These rankings mean nothing and shouldn't mean much to anyone either. Elite is a "[one]Winner-takes-all" competition and big ups to SGPD on it.

Any team worth their salt would agree with me on this one: it doesn't matter if Elite called me today and told us we got 2nd place or 2,002nd place...at the end of the day, it wasn't the top spot at a competition where only one winner is crowned. Not knocking on your theories and formulas and all that good stuff, keep at it for all i care, but the winner has been picked and there was little to no objection then nor is there any now.

agreed 100% Danny, it's just that elite 8 is the only comp where we have ALL the scores, so if we're ever to work something out or have a discussion then this is the best opportunity to do so. Discussions of the placings are for the academic purposes of seeing what effect the statistical work has.

Every judge placed SGPD first, and that's ultimately all that mattered for this competition. But it's not about elite 8, it's about thinking for the next comp

As Swi said, we're simply trying to see if the judging process can be improved on, by using Elite 8 as a reference point. I can spend hours on trying to find a fairer way to determine the placings and with it, come up with the exact same rankings as Elite 8 and I would be just as satisfied with the results. It's about whether the rankings would been different rather than which teams should have gotten what place. Elite 8 gives us an amazing opportunity to have insightful discussions, make acute observations and debate more fairer methods for numerically determining placings that could benefit the entire bhangra community and competitions everywhere. We're just using what we studied in school and applying it to things we love - don't you do the same?
